  • Ok so I havn't updated this in a long time. Since I started this thread I patched up the rust with fiberglass mat and resin, banged and pulled out the dents as best I could(they were bad see the videos), then sprayed it with Rustoleum Almond before the winter got here. Then in January I caught a DUI which I blew a .074(under the limit) but still got found guilty cause a cop got hit and killed by a drunk driver 2 days before my court date. Anyway, I get my L's back in 1 month and decided to get this project going again. So I plan on respraying it with Rustoleum High Gloss White since I hate the Almond, puting truck bed liner on the bottom and around the front and back wheel wells which will also get painted white to match(just to help prevent and fight rust), completing my d15b2 rebuild and dropping that in and if money allows it some Function Form coil overs. Then I'll drive it daily while I work on my new free acquisition of the 91' RT4WD some random neighbor gave me.

Don't mind the overspray planned on respraying those areas black anyway so I taped it off poorly in those areas cause I didn't care since I knew I'd be painting it anyway. Also sorry for the crappy Iphone pics lol.

^ I'd like to find a hood bra to cover those dents. I tried to get em out but no luck and didn't wanna bondo it up right there.

Bummer about the hiatus but good to see the wagon getting some love!
  • Started putting together the stock d15b2 rebuild tonight. This is how far I got so far. For my first rebuild I feel it's going pretty smoothly. I do have a question tho so see the pics below.

Ok, so here is my question. I applied this rubberized non hardening gasket here to the oil pump mating surface but I guess I put to much on or didn't let it get tacky enough. My question is will it be ok or should I take it back off scrape it off and do it again? This is my first build so I'm not sure and I'd really hate to screw it up over something silly like this. So if anyone knows please let me know ASAP, Thanks.

This is the rubberized gasket sealant I'm using. If I should use something else on the oil pump let me know please.
