Does anybody know what exact name this is?

Does anybody know what exact name this is? or part number?

Mines broke, and I am having trouble locating one. Seems like a rare unique piece.

while trunk is open, this supports the pumps.

It's an aftermarket accessory- not a honda part.

One of the wiper compaanies made those- Anco or Trico maybe?

Why not just super glue it back w/a reinforcement piece.Looks like something some1 could make from tube stock.Won't look the same ,but work the same.Could be a idea for my next DYI project.
  • Looks like a cheap fix for worn out hatch struts to me. Also looks like a cheap autozone part, one of those universal things that fits any car with a hatch. I am with SiWagon on this one. Go get you a small piece of plastic tubing and cut a notch down the middle of it that fits right over the strut shaft. You could also do like I did for my wagon while I was waiting for new struts to come in. I bought a cheap set of vise-grips and just opened the hatch and right at the base of the strut body I locked them down on the hatch. Multipurpose tool in the back of your wag and a little bit stronger than cheap plastic.

Just dont expect your struts to retain oil for much longer if your putting dents in the shaft with vice grips. But yeah, if they don't work anyway then why not I guess.

If you look in ebay you can find a set for about 40 bucks.

    Thanks guys,

Its a good start with Anco and Trico...
it might be an aftermarket part, but due to the perfect fitment and functionality, just thought it was OEM.

as far as glue and vice grips advice, no thanks... My bandage/duct-tapen/zip-tieing practices are over.

ok guys, I have just realized that my original struts are different than what other wagons may have.

I currently have a set of SHOWA which are different than the ones I have seen in other wagons.

My current tailgate struts are SHOWA 695.jpg
As you can see my current ones are fixed into the ball joint swivel, and the replacement ones I got from a wagon allows un-latching mechanism to release from swivel ball joint. 696.jpg
I can not replace my struts without the swivel ball joints,
again... a closer pic of my SHOWA struts with supporting/keeper device during open position.

Does anyone have tailgate struts like mines... I believe they came original with the car.

The one with the captive stud is original equipment. The one you're holding is an aftermarket replacement. They usually come with the new ball-studs in the package.

I was in a similar predicament. I just cut the ends off of the oem ones, and had them welded to the new ones

the replacements should come with a stud/ball in the package. we sell them and they all come with a new ball for the joint.
