oem ef hatch electric sunroof.... will it work in the wagon

i saw a '90 ef hatch in the pick-n-pull with a factory installed electric sunroof.
the headliner was removed exposing the sunroof assembly including the water drains, motor and mounting points.

anyone know if this is the same part as the EDM shuttle with factory sunroofs?

Why not just buy a wagon with a sunroof?
  • It will take considerable work, but it should.
  • i would man, but have yet to see one here with a sunroof and the one in the hatch looked rad!

  • This may sound like a dumb question, but have you ever had a car with a sunroof? Most of my cars have had them, I never used them, and they are an annoyance when the decipe to start leaking. My legacy doesn't have one, and I haven't missed it.
  • oya, i've owned a car with the sunroof and miss it, and it was just a pop-up and out version, not the retractable version that will fit under the soon(or so) to be installed roof rack.

it's funny, i was gonna buy a mint 99 legacy wagon with the same sun/moonroof setup as in the civic hatch.

i'm gonna search here to see if i can see any pics of the roof cross members with the headliner removed to see what might be done.

should be very similar, if not the same.

wagons are hard enough to find, especially with sunroofs, considering the fact that they were not available from the factory. most non-oem sunroofs are bound to leak anyway.

    thanks!

and up here, the wagons are even harder to find... and a factory sunroof... i've never seen one before.
so, i went back and got the sunroof.... $25 including the motor which works fine.... !!!!

the hatch this sunroof 'was' attached to was in very good condition with no rust around the factory opening... there was a little rust in the water catch areas of the sunroof assembly right around where the drains go down into the pillars but surface rust only... and for something that has been there for 20+ years, seeing salt and all various weather patterns here is a good sign.... forgot to get pictures of the roof rails and their attachment points to help me navigate this when i get around to it....

You'd be surprised how many up here have them...

guess it turns out to be a numbers game, the more there are available, the more options you'll see.
in the 3 years that i've been driving my wagon, i've only seen 5 others, none with any sort of sunroof.
matter of fact, the hatch was the first ef i've seen with a factory sunroof.

Might pay to ask the NJ boys? Pretty sure they had some retrofitted.

I would assume you might need roof skin as where.

Since the slick tops do not have all the sun roof bracing.

I can tell you my slick top roof looks totally different than my sunroof roof skin.

    good point!
i'll be going back today to get some pics of the hatch opening for reference.
