  • realtimefunrealtimefun Senior Wagonist
hey guys sorry for the lack of updates but ran in to some issues with family and stuff my girl wrecked her new g37 so all my free time has been there doing work on that and it is just about done....

sooo back on the project wago awd K i got all the stuff to drop in the motor the mounts are here i just need a clutch so this week i am going to order one and get the mount welded in and the tranny straped to the motor and redy to go....

i will update again very soon with pic.... the project has no died guys it will live
  • realtimefunrealtimefun Senior Wagonist
ok i got the mounts and well i think i got a buyer for the stock swap out of the wagon and then all i need is a clutch and i can drop the swap in and see what kinda fitment issues i will have or what i will have to trim....

i was going some talkin and the guys over at hasport are doing a similer built and i got a few pointers on what i have to trim and what not
  • realtimefunrealtimefun Senior Wagonist
quick run down i am a long time honda builder and owner but this will be my first K swap i am a sohc guy at heart but i wanted to try something new out... so if there is any thing you guys see feel free to throw input out there at me i will be used to the best.

    the project.....

    1990 honda civic WAGON

    K24 awd

as far as i know there is only one other person over at hasport doing the same swap on his own time we have talked and swaped info and ideas and well be talkin more.

i will try to keep this as updated as i can but this is not a rush rush project it get done little at a time as i get free time at work and extra money to buy parts.

    motor is a stock k24a
trans is a 2003 honda element.
transfer case is a honda element aslo
the front axles are stock base axles.
the rear drive shaft is a modded honda element.
the rear diff is a honda element.
the rear axles are yet to be made.

mounts are inovatave the rear mount had to be modded since the transfercase is in the way and i added a extra front mount like stock.

    time for some pics.

the hood now shuts like stock

stock cross member trimmed and instlled.

    543.jpg

rear mount bracket cut and bolted to one hole i have to weld on another tab and old it to another different hole. and i have a front mount added to the stock cross memeber also for more support.
shifter is on the plate now to get done

did some more work today i droped the swap back out and put in the clutch i did not have befor that is in.

i then put the swap back in trimmed the stock cross member a little bit to clean the oil pan some more.

then i put in the drive side axle i had and the passanger side will be here tommrow with the half shaft.

then i decide to look at the header issue i will be faced with and well after some work with the chop saw and the welder i sectioned the stock header about 1/2 and pulled it closer to the block i now have it fit 99% i have to trim the cross member about 1/4 of inch and it will bolt on minty.

wile i was back there i cleaned off the fire wall of all the non needed parts..... stock mapp sensor fuel filter and brackets the evap cnaister and the head hoses.

    drive axle in !
    545.jpg

header fit mint befor cross member trim... i will trim it tommrow

tommrow my pass side half shaft and axle will be deliverd 75$

the project is movein alot faster theni thought and it should be up and runnin is a few weeks to a month i hope. only thing i really have left to buy i need is the K pro and i was savein that for that because it cost the most. but i am going to finish up the cooling system this week and get the fuel system all done up next week. and once the parts i ordered get here and it should be alotmore done i will take any more pics for you guys

ya i know it fit really got i thought i would hit all over the place but it dont it even clears with the power steering rack i wish i could keep the Power steering but i dont think the room is there for the pump....

but i did some more work today i notched the cross member for the header some what i have to do some more.

then i put in the half shaft and the pass axles so now i have all the axles in.

i started to fit the drive shaft and rear diff and well that fit suprer well also the leangth is right where it needs to be i need to make a mount for the center support and then make some more mounts point for the rear diff then that is done i will prolly tackale that this weekend

i really wish i could run a stock wagon diff but i am not sure if gear raito is the same as the elemnt tran i used so i bought a rear diff to match the trans... but if any one can help me out and tell me where to look for gear raitos for the the wagon and the element that would be grea if they are the same i can sell this one and just put a stock wagon one in...

I'd probably advise against the stndard shuttle rear diff, dont think it's designed to take a k series :P

People do orthia rear diff's though? Maybe investigate that a bit more perhaps
  • good build want to see it complete !!

from doing alot of asking and talkin the stock wagon rear diff should hold up to my need i have a stock K24 and that is howi plan to keep it for now..

epic tuning civic hatch with the wagon drive train made 400HP and did not break the rear after 4wd burn out and track time then my daily driveing out of the 200 maybe K24 wont break it...
  • realtimefunrealtimefun Senior Wagonist
well today i went for a drive to mass 1.30 min away and got my rear diff and drive shaft and sub frame and trailing arms form biohazard for the wagon maybe tommor i will install it and then see what i have to do to make the wagon drive shaft bolt to the K series trans.

last night i ordere all the fuel fittins i needed and once they come in i will get the fuel done.

ordered my RYwire.com conversion harness and my charging harness they should be here this week some time..

after the fuel and drive train are done i need to make a exhaust and plumb the cooling system and then that should be it.... she should run and drive all that will be left is call my wiring guy and have him come do this Kpro stuff and see how it all works out

many more pics to come this week
