Help- taillight/ corner light repair

I'm trying to repair a rear corner light. The plastic is broken, so I was going to try to patch it to keep water out, at least until I can replace it. Can anyone recommend a glue, or should I just try regular silicone caulk?

i used lens tape. red or amber will work. one roll covered a whole light and then some.
