New guy from middle Georgia

Hey guys,

I have been looking on this site for a couple of months since my brother (maroon88iroc) bought his wagon. We're going to get some pictures of our cars together soon. When I first saw his wagon I didn't really like the bodystyle, it looked to goofy to me. But after getting on here and looking at the other wagons, they grew on me and I really like them now. So much so that I just bought one today after looking for about a month. I don't have any pictures of it at the moment but I will post them tomorrow once I get the car all cleaned up.

It is a 1990 5 speed wagon with 145,xxx miles on it. When I went to look at it there were a few problems with it and the seller understood and gave me a good price on the car. On the list of things to fix this week are distributor, muffler, and try to find some parts to lower it. My plans for the car is to keep it stock engine and drivetrain wise. I will be lowering the car and getting some type of wheels for it, I like the clean look.

  • I got out this morning to take some pictures of the car and to wash it. Here it is:

Can anyone tell me what is missing out of the spot right below the CD player?

Not positive but I think what should be there is a cup holder. There may be several options for what was put there; it's kind of a modular space. I've seen pics where they swapped the stereo headunit down there and put the cupholders in the upper slot. That may've been totally custom - you never can tell from pics on the 'net supplied by wagon nuts, lol! Welcome to the madness! I'm near Atlanta. Several other folks around in the Metro Atlanta area, too.

Your wagon is super clean and straight; good find! Did you get it from another wagon nut?
  • I don't think he was a wagon nut, he just kept it really clean. The body does have a good bit of dings and the interior has a few stains in it. On the driver's side doors he hit a stump or something when he went camping and there's a pretty noticeable scrape and dent. I actually bought the car off atlanta craigslist, the guy was in Marietta, he was selling because he just bought a new VW golf tdi. I figured thats what that space was in the dash, just wasn't sure, but is this console original? I haven't seen one before that connected to the dash that was original.

Console is original. I removed that cover plate and put in a one din digital equalizer in that spot. Looks like the old analog equalizers from the late 80's would have fit perfect in that spot. Who knows what it was exactly for but be lucky you have that lower console. Most just come with an empty void.
