Sanden AC Compressor from 93 Civic?

Will a sanden compressor from a newer civic fit my 88? I think I need a new compressor and I'd rather get one with the correct seals for 134a.

Are the ones on ebay garbage?

Just for your info I converted my r12 to r134a and have had no issues for over a year now. I did have to have the system fully flushed and vacuumed. Good Luck!

i had just looked into this. from what i found they changed bolt patterns on the compressor after 91. but if you have the ac bracket from the 93 too you can just switch that over to the 88. also 93 was still using r12. they switched to r134 in 94. if you switch to a r134 compressor, the fittings on the hoses you have in the 88 wont fit the compressor.

i just converted mine to r134 and after about 2 weeks my compressor kicked the bucket. but it could have just been time for it to die. it was 20 yrs old after all.

Yeah, I went through the same thing. I got it converted, it blew cold for a couple weeks then nothing. Is it normal for the compressor to crap out after a conversion?

Where are you guys getting new compressors from? Also, should I swap out my old condenser too???

You could run the compressor and have custom lines made, if you wanted to go that route.

I converted my Sanden in 2007, it's still going strong.
There's no real difference in the seals, but if you buy a new or reman compressor, it will have "the correct seals for 134a".

Ok, sounds good, you guys have me convinced to stick with what works.

Could someone point me in the right direction for a compressor though?
