90/91 defog button help

I was missing the button in my 91, So I got one and was wondering if it worked. When you push it in it doesnt stay in. Is it supposed to or is it a push on, off type of deal. Also the little light on the very top doesnt come on either so just curious if it's the button? Thanks

get a manual bro, i think i got one on pdf....it shows you how to check its a push on push off deal...light is supposed to stay on once you push it, push it again then off....

fwiw, when you push it in its not supposed to stay in (the EDM ones do though.. haha).

my switch's light didnt come on either and wouldnt operate the rear defrost, so i tried a different switch and sure enough the light worked and the defrost kicked in.

Ok so my button doesnt work or it's something else. Gonna get another button tomarrow(found another sedan). If that doesnt work I dunno. Would the relay matter? I found one compared to my buddies 89 and the only difference was at the bottom his said 96H and mine says 22H. Again little pic is the same and so is the longer number. Edit... Tried his and still didnt work. I really hope it's the button.

Tried checking fuses? If you hav the service manual you can follow directions to check the button and directions to check the relay...why won't you invest in a service manual? It will save you all this headache!

    I am going to invest.lol
  • Have u checked the connections at the rear window? Put a dc volt meter at the connections on the rear window and push the button to see if it's Getting power. If so check for broken contact points on the rear glass.
