Hello From Sunny CA, new Rt Owner!

Hey All,

Just took delivery of my Civic, was a bit of a gamble as I purchased her from an auction....done that with many cars before and its usually turned out to be a disaster :(. Anyway, he who dares, wins right? So, for the price of a mid spec Mac Book, I purchased a 1990 Rt4WD, one owner with a low 130k on the clock. Received her yesterday and after a LOT of cleaning, she shines up pretty good, interior is near flawless (seats need a scrub) and the body is amazing for a Californian car, no fading and of course no rust. Hub caps are trash though...I may try and refinish them...hmm. Even found a stack of odd service papers stuffed in the glove box, win! Only problem...there has to be something right?....is that on idle she is a little erratic, so a full tune up is in order.

Looking forward to joining the club!

Rick

@wagonmaniac - I ended up getting this from a Copart auction, a really risking bet, but they usually have a lot of interesting, older stuff, mid 80's to early 90's which goes for next to nothing. I had a buddy who worked for a dealership and all there old trades were sent to Copart, typically they would get a better price from there than say a strictly dealer only auction. I'd never dream of spending more that $2k at Copart, but if you have the money, it might be worth the gamble.

@Silvertoe88RT - Thanks! Actually the tow truck driver told me I overpaid, what a douche! Trying to find any clean car in California for $1500 is near impossible, especially one with low miles. Timing belt is the one thing on my mind, going to post for some tune-up help in another topic.

    Thanks guys!

As my luck, or lack of luck, would have it, it appears the idle is a bigger problem than I initially thought....ah well, you pays your money and you take your chance!

New thread will be posted in the engine category to keep the forum tidy.

wow man that interior is spotless
  • !!! that is a great looking wagon. It's like buying bread. Some times you buy 'dirt cheap' bread and some times you buy less for more.
Anyway congratulation winning the auction and really appreciating your (future) posts (I hope) hahaha lol
