I had some Metallic vibrating noise, which i pin pointed to this...



It sits in a bracket by the side of the rear diff, it isnt connected to anything and was sitting loose?



What is this? is it important?

It's a damper for noise, vibration, harshness (OEM speak for making a new car nice and quiet/comfy/smooth). You don't need it. Don't worry about it.

I noticed there "Used" to be a rubber bush which it sat in, which is not existant. This was making more noise than anything else!

I think there is a write up on a repair or modification to this bushing somewhere in the engine/drivetrain quicklinks.
