Paint Job / Rust Repair

I was quoted by body shop, $600 for paint and around $100-150 for rear wheel panel rust. He stated 2 base coat paint job.
Good idea to paint black side panels or renew it some other way? Also any other questions I should ask the body shop to make sure everything turns out good?

Have you seen some work this guy has done before? Sounds kinda sketchy imo.
I believe he stated, depends on how rust is, he will cut and weld new piece on.
and exactly what he is doing?
Is he just fixing a small rust area and then blending into the quarter? Is he painting the whole quarter?
What type of color match does he guarentee?
Ask to see some other cars he has done. Also ask for references.
Very, very good advice here. I will say my brother had his car painted for under a grand but his color was the original color and the body work was very very minimal. Basically a respray due to clear coat pealing.
A good paint job here in Germany is about the same as what MrM3 is quoting you. Good luck
Here's what it looks like now. Is it just me, or does it look like there is still rust at the bottom? Also they told me the plastic molding will be double tapped now instead of having them inserted back into the holes. He stated no more holes because it's what causes rust and that's how the new cars do it? Any truth to that?
i recommend getting it done "right" some time down the road...
Will take pictures tomorrow.
To answer your question about the molding: yes most new cars are only double side taped on. No it is not due to rust. Hondas rust like they do because of the rubber strips inside the wheel lips. They hold dirt and water and that's what causes it.
Here's where I am confused. He clearly states he will cut it out and then doesn't and you are ok with that? As I stated earlier you are the consumer and he just ripped you off and you just shrug it off. Maybe I'm the one who is confused about how business works...
Thanks again for all the useful info. As you can tell, I dont know too much about body work.
I asked the guy again about cutting out the metal when I went to check it out the 2nd time and he kind of hesitated, "yeah its a combination of metal and fiberglass. We dont use bondo because its not as strong." I just took his words for it. Couldn't accuse the guy because im not sure if its 100% filler.
One thing I do know, not much more can be done when it comes to people who BS their way in life. Best solution is probably to just ignore them and give them bad reviews online so others will know.
Or it's probably this. Filler with fiberglass hair added to it.
If you're gonna be a sucker, you should just start sending me your money...
Not necessarily true. You live and you learn.
Thanks again! Your honest feedback is appreciated.
