85 Wagon motor swaps?

So I know that with 4th gens I could use a D16z6 with a couple of a6 parts. But is my tranny any different from a RT tranny? I dont think it is. I think the only difference is the RT's have little slip clutches in them. But I could be wrong.

So my main question is can I bolt a d16z6 to my selectable 4x4 tranny?

AFAIK RT Trannys are completely different and not compatable wiht anyting else thats why the RTs can only do D16s and nothing else without lots of custom work but thats just what i heard i haveont tried it yet

No you can not swap a Z6 into your 85. The trans for the 85s are different from the trans in a 88-91. Even if it's the same, you would have to buy different mounts, run/route a new/custom harness and pressurize the fuel system. IMO not worth it at all, unless you want to be different. the 3rd gen trannys will not work with the 4th and up gen motors.
This is just my 2 cents and others may have something else to say. It comes down to, how much custom work do you want to do?
I had a 84 CRX with a dohc zc and a si tranny, custom carbs, the mounts were expensive but it was worth it. IMO
