Wheel covers that don't rust

My stock steel wheels have seen better days. Some surface rust here and there. Was at my favorite junk yard and spied some Accord wheel covers hiding the trunk. I tried them on a Civic sedan and they fit! Just had to make sure to get the special, wheel cover holding lug nuts and I was on my way. When installing I noticed the covers hitting against the original center caps. I pulled the wheel off and tapped them out from behind with a big screw driver handle and they fit fine.

That Honda, wheel-cover-held-on-by-lug-nuts, idea is a new one. I'll bet a frustration for many during a late night flat in the dark. Glad I changed mine in my driveway the first time. Also gave me a chance to verify I had everything I needed to change a tire IN MY CAR before I had a flat. Have heard a lot of horror stories on this one. Know where YOUR lug nut wrench is?

I found a set of 13" Civic sedan wheel covers from the mid '80s for my old '84 wagon. They use the same funky lug-nut-with-washer design to hold them on, but fortunately the guy at the junkyard gave me a set of 16 lug nuts. The 4WD wagon uses the same style lug nuts to hold on their "semi caps", but they're the only ones I've ever seen in black.
