IS your P28 from and auto or manual? Makes a difference.

Have you tried giving it a go yourself? There are times when you have to use your own knowledge rather than rely on others.

Yeah i tried, i looked at schematics in the manual messed around a bit and can't get it to rev over 3500.....so far all i've found out that their are a couple of wires that you depin, possibly b1 and b2 but that's as far as i get........i think the problem is that only 3-5 people have actually done it out of hundreds maybe thousands.....patience is futile, but i just about given up. I'm actually on about 4 different board forums... and nothing

So try depin them and see what happens

I say the best thing to do is look at the wiring diagram off of your car and the 92-95 civic and look at the transmission wiring to match up with urs

I don't know if the wiring will be the only problem. There's a chance Honda uses different functionality to activate the torque converter lockup solenoid, etc...

I think you need to grab both Helms (the 4th gen from your car and the 5th gen) and compare the way the 2 transmissions function to be sure you don't need any other electronic or mechanical trickery to make it work. You're headed into uncharted territory. Use all the tools at your disposal. If you're not willing to make the investment (both time and $$$), then go back to OBD0.

seems like the only option, thing is their's a few that's actually done it but almost impossible to get a hold of, except for Mista bone, this is what he did, (From the begining of the post) maybe you guys can make something out of all this:

Jonknee: I just got this second swap finished, but this is an automatic, and I took it for a 300 foot test drive and it would not rev abobe 3,000 rpms or go to second gear. Car runs perfect, idle, throttle cable is fine, it just wont go over to second gear. Tranny is hooked up fine, no torque conv issues for sure.

I thought i found the problem, i didnt have b3 and b4 pins connected to the ecu(upshift/downshift). But couldn't find where they went on my 91 civic harness.help would be excellent.

Tranny is automatic obd0, ecu is automatic obd1. Do i need a Transmission control module? Does obd0 even have a tcm. SORRY FOR SO MANY ANNOYING NE WTOPICS. i just suck at life.

    Obd1 ecu in obd0 car.

CIVICJDMB16A: Well i know that B3 and B4 in OBD0 is for the a/c compressor clutch relay and Fan. Your probably on track with the "TCM". OBD0 might have an internal control unit.

jonknee: No i mean b3 and b4 in obd1. Which is upshift/ downshift.
Im lookin where to match those into obd0.

MISTA BONE: AFAIK the OBD-0 tranny doesn't have the lockup solenoids that 92-95 does. Mine runs just fine without them. Sure it would help highway MPG but I still can get 35 mpg cruising at 70 mph.

In normal driving I prefer not having the lockup, it only bogs the motor down. Once cruising on the highway I could see having the lockup.

so this is where im stuck at......

I still say grab a PS9 Obd0 ECU and use a vtec controller...

    I may have found a spare PS9...

It worked for me and I didn't have to worry about the differences.

Have you downloaded the owners manuals for each car (OBD0 auto and OBD1 Auto)?

Go to the electrical section and it will give you wiring diagrams for each car, compare diagrams, connect wires, done.

All i remember is that obd0 uses a kick down cable on the auto trans. I know that's obvious but I thought that controlled up shifting down shifting. :?

This sounds kewl and easy, no side effects?

This just came in from a reliable source, but this reliable source is in japan now and barely has time to post......anyways he says this:

this also: You have to use the obd0 auto trans and he p28 auto ecu. The obd0 trans has a single lock up control solonoid while the p28 auto has two. You will have to simulate the second solenoid or you will get a cel.

How do you simulate the second solenoid? i'm guessing he is talking about the p28 auto ecu right?

I'm deep into this does anyone know how to siulate the second solenoid? or where the wires go from the shifter for the auto lock?

Chances are the ECU is looking for 12v when it grounds the 2nd solenoid to know that the solenoid was successfully activated. However, I have not (nor will not) look in the manual to find out for you.

You could wire up a regular automotive solenoid, 1 side to 12v. and the other side to the ECU. Then leave the other solenoid connections unconnected.

However, do your own research. This is only what I figure from my own knowledge and experience.

Thanks for the not so much help, if you are not willing to look in the manual for me and give me some much needed info :/

Do my own research? lol what do you think i've been doing, i've been p'ming people who have done something similiar as far back as 2006, i have posts in every message board available!!

    again thank's

Is it possible to use a jdm Pr3 ecu from a 88-91 HONDA CIVIC CRX SIR B16A OBD0 1.6L DOHC VTEC AUTOMATIC ECU? are their any differences in ECU between DOHC and SOHC?
