  • was up bro it was good talking with you and your bro the other day . ...we did some measuring last night and the Bmw E30 rear dif will work ... drive shaft shop said once we get it mounted they can make the shaft length and the inner and outer tulips for it to work ... and a solid one piece drive shaft if we want to go that route
  • Why do you feel the need to use an E30 diff? You'll have a tough time finding the correct FD to match the output of the Honda transfer case.
  • not really . me and a friend can have the drive shaft made to be honda front "trans side" and the back mate to a BMW Rear Diff and as for the gear ratio . the E30 318 base carrys the same gear ratio as the wago.

were trying to make an evo killer and around 700and up hp awd. we know were no longer in shallow water were some where heading to the abyss .... we dont know it if will work or not but wont know till we try

Thats called taking to the next level. Mad props to you for taking it there.
  • why on earth do you need 700hp to kill an evo? 700hp is an anything killer....
  • the E30 318 base carrys the same gear ratio as the wago.

You're looking for a 2.53:1 ratio. I don't think any E30 ever came with a ratio even close to that.

I just did a quick search and the closest ratio I found was a 2.93, which wouldn't be too far off would it?
  • 2.93 is much too different from 2.53 to work for that application. If you were going RWD only, then it'd be OK. You'd be revving kind of high, but otherwise no trouble. However by mixing the front ratio with the rear ratio with such a large difference, either you'll be overheating and destroying your viscous coupler (if you're using one) or you'll be binding your dirvetrain in a huge way if you're not. You'll be asking the rear wheels to turn at about 65mph when the fronts are going 75mph.

    Good stuff!

For obvious reasons, I'm interested in how that failure happened.

Oh, and I don't usually say this but... I don't think we can fix that with duct tape!
  • realtimefunrealtimefun Senior Wagonist
how did that break .... that a big chunk of iron to snap off
  • FSC4wdFSC4wd familEE
Great build. The best part is seeing it out being used. How do the brakes hold up and did you have to beef up the suspension?
