Double din deck

I acquired a pioneer AVIC-Z1 (navi/dvd deck) and I put it in the wifes toyota highlander. She doesnt like it anymore, so long story short I think I want to try to fit it into the wagon, but its only the single size din. Has anyone of tried fitting a double din into the wagon? Maybe replacing the console or something? I am definitely considering it, just looking for some idea's, thanks in advance.

And yes, i have searched.

The term you were looking for is "Double DIN". DIN is an acronym for Deutsche Institut fur Normung. Or German Institute for Normals. They set the standard size for radio sizes and everyone followed suite.

You will definitely have to modify the console to make a double DIN unit fit.

gotcha thank you for the input, just thinking if anyone has already done it, if not I will be going over to the junk yard to see if i can find a double din console that fits. we'll see

i relocated my temp. controls to bottom and put in a double din unit ..

NICE! how did you go about relocating the climate controls? And the space between did you just shave the bezel down?

I personally don't think it's worth relocating your climate control for a double din. Flip out FTW.
Just my 2 cents.

right now Scrappy has no sounds n him ... removed radio, door speakers, headliner screen to install roof tubes and do a little prep work for the winter...

but i do have a nice component set going n front doors and drill tweets n the dash... then match up my integra console to my wagon dash.... (well thats the idea anyways..)
