Home theater sub?

Do you think a home theater sub would work if hooked up in a wagon? I researched it and i read that an inverter wired straight to the battery would work. But now i wonder what size inverter do i need.

Heres the back of the sub:

Anyone know?

Yes it would work, but do i recommend it? probably not. you see, a home sub is made for a different environment, its made for a more spacious rooms and different acoustics. if you put it in a car, the detailed bass will become sloppier and boomier, not only that, a home sub is not made for harsh conditions it will face in an automotive environment like extreme heat or extreme cold. one of my friends did something like this with a computer sub once, it didn't survive 3 months. food for thought :D

Do you have any idea what size inverter to get though?

a 100 to 150 watt inverter should do fine.

No it wont work, it is 8Ohm. Car stereo's are 4Ohm

It should work being that it has its own built-in amplifier, so it takes the whole 8ohm - 4ohm thing out of the question, all he needs is a low level signal going from his head unit to the powered sub to get any sound out of it, again i don't recommend running a setup like this, but i guess use what you got.

also, an 8ohm sub has been done before, doesn't do any harm to a car stereo amplifier, actually its better for it because the speaker has more resistance which in turn demands less from the amplifier and makes it run cooler, though drawback is that you wattage output is pretty close to halved and that's why most car stereo speakers are 4ohm, its that so they can squeeze more output out of an amp.

Hooked it up to my head unit today but powered from the wall, sounded fine to me, getting a 300 watt inverter soon and ill hook it up.

it will work but its really not a good way to do it

if u got the amp, sub and inverter for free, id say go for it

but i think u could hit up craigslist and find a sub and amp with box for less than the inverter will cost you...

The 300 watt inverter im getting is $25, the sub is self powered and i got it for free, so i figure why not just do it?

    fair enough!

The inverter is on its way, i acquired another sub however, got it for free from a friend, has a 10 and a 12 in it and i hooked it up to my headunit but powered from the wall, sounded awesome, ill get pics up soon
