Frame rust?

well i went to have the wagon inspected yesterday, and it turns out i've got a fairly large hole from rust on the frame under my driver's seat.
has anyone ever had their frame repaired for something like this? i'm wondering if its going to be worth it to get done and if it will effect the overall safety and reliability of the frame?

apparently no where out here where i got to school does this kind of work, so its hard to get a quote, and its tempting to just part it out and pick up another wagon i've got my eyes on thats fairly close to me, and is a manual rather than my autotragic

Don't part it out. Sell it to someone who is capable of doing the repair. You won't get a lot for it but you'll save one more wagon from the crusher and keep the population where it's at. IMO

the main reason i'd part it out is that the wagon i'm looking at has a good bit of rust and is just a step above a parts car, but aside from this rust on my frame, the body is fairly rust free, and i'd end up using parts from one to fix the other
