Turbo placement can vary based on manifold design, compressor clocking, and size of course. I won't be using an HF manifold, if I was then I'd have to lose AC and PS. I just want to know if anyone has done this and kept those amenities, not that they had to remove them to get a random setup to fit under the hood.
Hmm... not sure if i recall correctly but i think RC Autoworks might make a manifold that positions the turbo in such a way... might want to hit up 90blackcrx on here.
alot of the greddy's dont come with a intercooler or blow off valves unless you purchase the extras. Im in the process of fitting a hf mani and a 14b to my wagon and it will clear the PS fine. I dont have AC cause I have the base model RT4WD. If your going to do a custom set up then you should have no problem fitting it all in. You will have to flip the turbo around and have the down pipe leave on the right side instead of the left. This means your charge pipe will have to come out on the tranny side and have to pass under the turbo on its way to your driver side.

When you say the downpipe leaves on the right side, do you mean the passenger/trans side?
Well when I say right it means the driver side of the car (as if your were looking at the car head on instead of sitting in the car). Your charge pipe for a intercooler will have to pass infront of the down pipe but some header tape should keep the temps down. Its also befor the intercooler so it wont hurt it that bad. If your still having problems picturing it i can draw you a pic
How would making the downpipe on the drivers side create more space? Thats where the PS/AC stuff is. Don't see how this would work. The Greddy kit on my GSR worked with AC but it had a special cast iron downpipe that did a 120 degree bend off the turbo to clear AC/PS.
well not to sound like a dick but you just explianed my answer in your post. if the downpipe exits the right side (ac side) instead of the compressor housing that takes up MORE space and possibly hitting your accessory drives. the downpipe can hard angle to clear the drives. You may be able to clock the compressor housing but you can only clock them so much, and there still gonna be clearance issues. Also you have to think about the cone filter unless your just running a screen (not the best idea) So that filter is gonna hit your ps. so just flip it around and do it like your GSR and make the exhaust pipe cut hard down the right side and on out.

Still sounds to me like it makes more sense to run the downpipe on the trans side. That puts the cold side of the turbo closer to the entry of the IC.
THE COMPRESSOR SIDE OF A TURBO IS GOING TO BE BIGGER THEN THE EXHAUST HOUSING AND DOWNPIPE. DONT BELIEVE ME MOCK IT UP AND SEE HOW MUCH CLEARENCE YOU HAVE. If that does get to you then I dont know what will. You can argue with me all you want but I have owned turboed cars with the turbo positioned both ways. Hands down what Im telling you will give you more room to clear the drives. even alot of aftermarket turbo kits do this. Do some searching and looking at pics and you will see what im saying. the only way your gonna get away with the compressor next to the drives is if you have one hella tiny compressor.
haha sorry. too much gin. Anyways that looks like it would clear both with the right downpipe and the exhaust on the right side. If you flip it around you may have problems with the wastegate diaphram (I know thats not spelt right) hitting your ac or ps. This I cant stress enough so its going in caps for all the newbs. YOUR MANIFOLD WILL DICTATE THE POSITIONING OF YOUR TURBO. okay with that said, its really now what mani are you using? if its custom made, and you feel gangster do a top mount if you can fit it.
no I'd just be using the Greddy manifold, from everyone I've talked to, it should fit fine. Here's a pic of it installed on an EG with a D16. Clears the PS just fine:

Edit: are you using the greddy dump tube or a custom? it wont matter but the greddy should clear your ac. if custom you should go out in front of the passenger wheel. Drive with that window up all the time and laugh your ass off at the person that gets the right lane at the strip!

I'd use that cast iron elbow, and then a custom downpipe to clear the xfer case, then out to the cat/exh. I don't drag race so I guess there's no reason to run the exhaust out the front, this is supposed to be my nice quiet car anyway.
