Btw, I took my lip off and put the one in better shape on. Sanded and painted the lip and the bumper, and gave it an oil change, stopped my heatshield on my exhaust from rattling, and got a new washer for my oil drain plug because it was all mangled. I also installed a cd player in the blue wagon. Next is cleaning up and painting the roof rack. Then figuring stuff out for install. If anyone sees this with a stock roof rack, would ya mind getting the measurements for it for mounting?
  • keep the cream alive.

    lookin good

you need another sticker that says "YR88 FTW"
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
True, I was already planning on getting a tag that says '' YR88 EE''. GA law says 7 characters including any spaces. So I think that'd be pimpin'. lol

Looks good Rev! Can I get more info on the hardware used to install your rack as well as the process to get em in the roof? They look sort of like an enlarged version of the hardware used to attach rails to skate decks from back in the day. ya, i'm old school! I'm looking to install the one I got from the salvage yard. Thanks!

Pretty much mark where your holes are going to be, drill the holes out, the small ''rivet'' looking piece goes in with a ''rivet gun'' and that's where the screw threads into. Hopefully Bam-bam can post more technical names for the hardware.

They're called 'thin sheet nutserts', I sorta brought them home from work, and borrowed the tool. (Same one I used to install both my racks). The tool we used is an expensive hydraulic hand riveter made by Huck, but you can get a setup with some inserts and a manual setting tool from Harbor Freight for <$20.

Thanks guys! I'm going to see if my dad has a riveter. He's always buying Harbor Freight stuff. If not, there are a couple of Harbor Freights nearby.
