Auto trans wont shift

i have a 90 wagon 2wd dx

the trans works fine when running but i have to use the key to unlock it to get it out of park. the fluid level is fine. what else would cause such issues?

    are you sure its not that weird locking thing that goes on..because i have that sometimes where the wheel and breaks lock up. so i cant get it out of part...or i cant get the key out..just check that out sorry i dont know much about that

    NSS maybe, havnt really messed with the d-series auto trans much.

    im not sure if the security peice is bad or not so i just wire tied it closed so now i can put it in park with just pushing the trigger. ill figure the real problem out later.

    Have u checked to see if u have brake lights...if you don't its a fuse...also might wanna check your neutral safety switch connected to your brake pedal...

    i will do that tonight. that blasted rubber piece might have disinegrated like all other ones ive had with hondas

    That, or someone poured some Campbell's Chunky in the console!

    No shit, this jamaican dude I used to work with spilled soup in his console and I had a big time trying to get it out of park. The little solenoid was just gummed up. (Toyota Avalon)

    As far as the brake light thing: that will kill your battery because the brake lights stay ON

    my brake lights work via brake pedal. i just wire tied it wide open. my brake booster is bad i think.
