delSnow!

Well, after searching for a year or more I finally found a worthy delSol for pebbles.

It's everything I wanted: White, single-cam, stock down to the hubcaps. Adult, second owner, garaged since '99  it has 141k miles. The only real flaw was a missing passenger door vent window...you know me, I already fixed that!

Psychobillycadillac and I trekked 4 hours to Asheville to purchase the car. It ran perfectly all the way home, even got 41 mpg doing 80 most of the way. I got it back here to bamtech and installed the glass and cleaned off the road grime, then went hunting the Christmas clearance aisle at the local CVS...

See, Anne was in Orlando all last week on business, and she didn't know about the car until I pulled up at baggage claim with the top off and a bow on

I brought her jacket and hat, and we rode 40 miles home in subfreezing temps with the top stowed

On the way up, we stopped off at a rest area near Hendersonville, and looky what we saw!

    364.jpg

Looked like it had been sitting there for more than a day, maybe broke down? Shame they weren't around, I'da probably fixed it. Left a sticker in the front seat with an invite to join us here and moved on.

After we got the delSol down from the hill where it lived (bamwagon wouldn't make it up there

Doesn't look like you'll need anything, but I just snagged a del sol parts car. Should be parting it out this week.

I do need a few things!

    Passenger inside door handle (gray)
passenger seatcover to redo the driver's. No holes yet but it's got the fuzzies.

    maybe more...
  • stampernstampern Senior Wagonist
Ok, I'll see what it has and let you know.

Update: Got these done for Christmas

    530.jpg

Beautiful. Had them restored at a local wheel place. They powder coated them gray, re-machined the faces, and then powder coated clear. Expensive but she's worth it!

The finish on these wheels is so nice! When I got to see them I had to keep looking again just to be sure. Had to touch to see if the clear was wet and come to find out the clear is powder coated on... well, I didn't even know there was clear powder coat. (Not that I'm really up-to-date on the powder coating.)

I've had the Fit wheels from her wagon on here for many months (She has driven the poor wagon ONCE in the past year)

    690.jpg

And I've accumulated 8 of these to cull a decent set from

    691.jpg

I'm still waiting for the center caps from Majestic- got the wrong ones the first go-round.
Anyway, I like it. More importantly, SWMBO likes it

Sounds like its time to sell me her wagon... Don't want it to just sit there...

Caps won't be here 'til the 5th. I hope they're the right ones this time around.

:D They arrived... they don't fit.

I did get the correct part number this time, but I failed to notice how much material was milled from the wheel faces. Now the recess for the center cap is too shallow. The caps will pop on there, but don't fit flush.

    Dammit.
  • rbwdrivenrbwdriven Senior Wagonist
can we mill anything off the back of the cap?
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
No, the way they clip into the wheel allows for no adjustment.

All but one of them are acceptable. Knowing me, I'll probably spend another $150 to have one more wheel restored

Looks like the set without tires were partially stripped before getting spray bombed. Let me know if you need these back.
