I like Hondas...what can I say?

Comments

  • My license plate is "9 Hondas" :)

I've been debating an AP1 for a while now. What made you pull the trigger?
  • The Miata just wasn't "doing it" for me. I like the car...it's a lot of fun, but there was just something about it that left me wanting more. ...and it wasn't any one thing.

The company I work for is working with another aftermarket company that makes a supercharger kit for the S2000. So, just messing around, I went looking for a S2K on AutoTrader. Well, this one popped up 6 miles away and only has 23,000 miles on it.

So, we got the $$$ numbers to agree on both sides and I left the Miata at the dealership.

They (Miatas) are really good cars, but I don't know...guess I'm just a Honda fanboi. lol

949 racing wheels ftw. I plan on getting some for my wagon eventually as well.
  • Got the S2K doll'd up:

I pulled the head off the D16A6 for the Wagon, and it looks like the block will be getting the FJ Distributors Bottom End Kit soon.

Nah. I think the F20C will be happy right where it is.

Besides, a turbo'd D16 would be more fun anyway. As long as I can keep the trans casing from breaking. :)

Trade my stable plus my girlfriend for your stable? Deal?

Nice collection, I had a miata as well and although is underpowered it was an amazing car. I'm loving the 949 wheels, are they the 8"?
  • LowFlyin'LowFlyin' Moderator
Yes, they are 15x8. I don't think the 15x9 will fit in the rear. I'd have to look again.

I've seen 15x9s on a CRX, but it was converted to RWD, so it probably was different. I still plan on buying 15x9s and making it work somehow.

Well, I can tell you a good place to start. Pick up a set of DA front spindles, they have more bow to them so you can run more wheel/tire inwards. In the back, I'm already rubbing the rear trailing arm with 225/45-15 race tires.

My set up, w/ 225/45-15, would not mount to the OE front spindles of a CRX Si, so I'm pretty sure they won't fit on a Wagon, either. A 3-5mm spacer would probably fix the inner clearance, but then you have some outer clearance issues and will have to run more camber.
  • ThaClutcHThaClutcH Senior Wagonist
I plan on running spacers all around. Camber I'm not too afraid of. I'm guessing it'll just have to be a trial and error thing. But if I do need DA spindles, my uncle owns a junkyard that I can get parts easily from. If you could, can you get a picture of the rear wheels clearance?

I'll see what I can do.

Do want! All 3 to be exact lol
  • Love the stable I so want an s2000 but thieves here in Orlando are like roaches youncan get rid of them... And shady people do suck, you should follow him and then do a run by punching.... Just saying....
  • So...a stable update.

The Blue Wagon was stripped and the shell was sold for $50 to bpr00civicsi.

People keep giving me cars, though.

Got a '75 Civic CVCC from a friend because he didn't have the time for it.

...and last night at our local forum's Christmas Dinner, I got a '91 Civic Si out of the Dirty Santa exchange (thanks str8shooter!).

    Plans?

Nothing immediate for the CVCC, but I've always wanted a bike-powered mini-car.

The '91 Si will be getting the LeMons treatment. Anyone want to come play at Eagles Canyon May 26-27, shoot me a PM for details.

berlina black s2k is the sickest color IMO, that paint has some awesome depth.
  • It looks beautiful when it's cleaned and detailed...but it swirls like a MOFO.

Have to stay on top of it...and I haven't over the past few months. :(

    Spring is coming up, though.

Did you coat that entire car with blue painters tape or is my phone's itty bitty screen playing tricks on my eyes? Either way, I've had a good laugh just thinking about it, lol!
  • Yes, the Tape-R is covered in blue painter's tape. :)

Look at the CTR sticker a little closer, it says Tape instead of Type. :D

I've been reading off and on about a gut building a frontwheel drive cvcc with a motorcycle engine I think it was an R1. He has a chain drive differential hooked to the original cv shafts. I have thought about doing this before but my plan was to retain the original cars transmission. If you use a shaft drive water cooled motorcycle engine hooked to the cars 5 speed transmission depending on the motorcycle's and cars number of gears you would have like 25, 30, 20,0r 16 foward gears and 5 or 6 reverses. just use the motorcycle clutch. pick a car gear and do a slap stick style shifter for the motorcycle engine.
  • I have an engine/trans out of a CBR 600RR, without really pursuing it further than acquiring the car and the engine and looking over a few builds posted around the 'net...I think the chain driven FD+diff is the direction I'm going to go.

The FSAE team from my college days ran something similar in our car and we had good performance with it.
