Axle keeps popping out

Today I replaced my right side upper control arm on my RT and when I was finished and took it for a test drive it felt like I didnt have front wheel drive. I returned to my garage and took the wheel off to see that the axle was not in the transmission. I pushed and pushed and it wouldnt go back in. It seemed almost like it wasnt long enough. I got another axle and put it in and it seemed to have difficulty going in and once it was in it didnt seem like it was in all the way. After another test drive, it was fine for about a block, then the same symptoms. Came back, and the axle was out again. Anyone have any thoughts?

    theres really only 2 problems that ive ever seen cause this.

    1. is the axle is too short and pops when extended.
    2. the snap ring is bad or missing on your axle.

    ive never seen a stock diff go bad but that could be really the only other thing wrong in this situation.

    check the snap ring. i had a similar issue a few months back and i ended up going and putting a new better snap ring that instead of being just round the ends of it were bent inwards and made the ring open wider and i never had the issue again.
