A lot of people making 300+ on stock Z6 or Y8 cam.
  • Going to pick up a dohc zc tonight
  • Looking for a PM6 ecu that I can chip. Must have the 28 pin eprom
  • I'm an idiot. Completely forgot about the pm6 thats already in the car

But on a side not I do need timing covers for my zc
  • I need timing belt covers for a dohc zc as soon as possible. Any one have any?
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
Found a lower timing belt cover. Fricken hard to find and people want a lot for them

well the game has officially began. Parts are starting to come in and more are on the way. Everything should start on saturday as soon as I get home then its going to be a race to get it all done and running right by next weekend.

Do you guys think I should replace the whole passenger side axle or just the boot? Its not clicking but idk how long the boot has been torn. Also trying to decide if I should swap trans bit I don't know what year the other one is or how it drives. And I guess I need to make an adapter harness for the zc dizzy and cam sensor.

    Always the whole axle

Got to work on the zc tonight. started pulling parts and cleaning some stuff. the fricken tensioner bolt is rounded off so that will be exciting to get off and a few valve cover studs were broken, so I will probably just use bolts instead of studs. More to come tomorrow.

Got an 90 integra axle and started pulling the motor out of the wagon. got frustrated with all the small spaces. Does the motor come out the bottom or the top?

I prefer installing/removing the motor from the bottom. Too much of a paint to wiggle in/out the top. Even with a load leveler, its still a bitch.

its true. we took mine out the top simply because it was our only option. the bottom on a wagon will be way easier due to the smaller engine bay vs. a civic.

Thanks guys! I washed the zc today and stripped the white valve cover. Going to do it wrinkle black. Hopefully going to get the engine pulled tonight

good bye d16, time for some twin cam fun. Got the motor out. Thanks to charb and 503 for some advice. stripped the a6 of some of the parts I need and now its just put it all back together. ECU got sent out on monday to be chipped and a slightly modified pm7 map, hoping to have it back pretty soon. I dont think it will be here before I have to go back to school so who knows when I will drive this thing again.

Bad. News. Bears. Went to swap pans between the a6 and the zc and saw some flakes in the pickup of the zc. Pulled the mains and rod caps. It looks like a 5 year old tried to rebuild it. A full rebuild will be in store for the zc. Crank Needs turned for sure but the cylinders look fine but still going to pull the pistons out. Good thing I ordered a full gasket kit for the zc.

Was happy to see you doing this...

Then sad to see she needs a rebuild...

Oh well. At least you know she'll be fresh when its all in. Hoping to do this myself soon (swap, not rebuild lol)

Ya so much for being driveable by this weekend. I just hope the crank is still alright to use, because if not then I'm back to square one with 2 bad motors. I feel kind of stupid because the a6 bottom end looks better than the zc that was supposed to go in.

You are going to need a sohc to sohc intake adapter if you want to run the y8 intake. I am waiting on line to come in now. I am doing the same swap.
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
I have a pm7 zc intake manifold I will be using.

Dang thats really too bad with the motor!! To be honest with my history with DOHC ZC motors they only last about a year once u replce the bearings and will always spin them! :/ I have had three and the all spun bearings with regular oil changes and care! I do not like anymore!
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
Ok question time. Since I am using a different crank, how do I go about deciding on beari g sizes? Mic the crank and bore on the Rods and mains? Or is there a way to read the markings on the crank and block to determine which colors bearings to order
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
Going to drop off the block and crank at the machine shop today. Then onto the expensive part, bearings, rings, and oil pump. Blahhhh
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
crank needed ground down. The rod journal that took a hit was already down .0035". So since I'm a cheap ass I'll take my chances with some oversize acl bearings. Hoping to get the block back next week and start assembly then who knows when I will make it back home to put it in the wagon. If things go as planned should be running about middle of May.

Excellent thread man, can't wait to see how she turns out! Sucks about the bearings though. Hopefully the ACL bearings work out for you.
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
Going to pick up the block and crank today. Piston rings came in on Saturday. Only thing it needs now is bearings and oil pump and slapped together. Please don't blow up
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
Got my block back from the machine shop. Cleaned up a few things, installed water pump and a few random things. Got the pistons ready for rings and install.

Got my bearings and thrust washers in the mail today. Now to plastigauge and make sure everything works
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
Ordered my oil pump today that should be all the parts I need
  • ludemanludeman Wagonist
Bottom end is together. All the clearances were in spec but I wanted to be a little looser on one rod. I switched some stuff around and it was still a little tight for my liking. Ended up with that rod being about 0.025mm clearance. Not bad but all the others were about 0.030mm. Oil pump should be here tomorrow or wednesday
