I think that the problem is the cam gear. Have anybody done this swap before? Why would have this guy changed the gear cam (D15b2 cam gear on the D16Y7 head)? Is it necessary????

I know that the timming marks are alittle off between obd2 and obd1 cam gears. If you line up the cam gears by the key way you'll see they'ra a little off

So, should I go and install the Y7 cam gear back? That may be causing the problem...

No, I went to honda Tech.com:

    http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.ph ... st44173774

I actually has not received much help there. Except for a guy that said:

"He should have never changed the cam gear.Go back or do it your self.Put the y7 cam gear back on and reuse the y7 belt. The car is all the way advanced because the timing is off bad.He should have never used the d15 cam gear.Go back change the cam gear hope none of the valve steam's burnt out or valve's.

The d16y7 cam gear should be on the head with this swap.It will work just fine change it back redo the timing and you should be fine. "

    Also:

"Hm im going to take it your still using the dpfi manifold and n ot muilty point fuel injectio (4 fuel injector's) it could be running wrong 1 because the head is built for fuel injection the b2 cardboard head gasket's are crap switch out to a y8 2 layer metal gasket. They are much better and raise the comp a lil=a lil more power.I would swap the d15 cam for the y7 cam use the y7 timing belt the d15 timing belt is 106 teeth the y7 is 103 which you need.First change out the cam and timing belt.If you still get some sh*t from that. Its going to be the dpfi manifold your going to have to rewire for mpfi and run a crx/civic si dizzy manifold injector's all that.Im glad i can help man just pm for more info."

Well that wall of text right there would tell me to seek other opinions. I'd still try d-series.org.

I dont think it has anything to do with DPFI. I believe the problem is in the cam gear/deck height.

Yes, you are right. I will register there right now....
  • If you want to make it easy, Get an adjustable cam gear, put the dizzy in the middle and use a timing light to adjust the cam gear.

Wow, I found out what the problem was. The problem was a bad spark plug wire. I changed them with brand new ones but it seems that one of the wires was still defective. Problem fixed! Thanks for your help guys!!
