Has anyone done a b-series awd swap in a wagon yet?

I did try a search with crv swap/conversion. It pulled up a small handfull of threads but none pertaining to this swap.

I recently picked up a 98 CRV AWD 5-speed tranny, transefer case, and rear diff (along with drivelines and mounts from the crv) with 50k on the parts. Im going to put this in my 89 awd wagon with a gsr motor (for now).

What im looking for is anyone thats done this swap, or knows of somebody who has completed this swap. Im in need of all the little things that I may need. For instance, which shift cables, which drivelines, which engine/tranny hangers to use etc. Just trying to get all my loose ends covered before I disable the vehicle.

Any info anyone could point me in the direction of any info it would be very helpfull. Thanks in advance!

Hey mate, no ones actually done this swap yet (to my knowledge) so its only guessing, but i'll give it a go..

    -B-series mount kit
-CRV rear crossmember, with full parts (stealing bits from)
-CRV box, driveshaft, centre coupler and diff
-CRV front suspension and brakes (for stealing bits from)

I'm actually going to make a stab in the dark here and say you're not going to need any welding. ;)

Nice! Thanks for the reply Pacifier. I was hoping to hear something in those lines. I cant seem to find any info on this swap. I have heard tale that some magazine did this conversion quite a few years back, but noone can tell me who, where, or when. Sooooo, Ill just wing it. This swap is going to happen, reguardless of needing to weld or not. I suppose Ill do a write up along the way if anyones interested.

This wont be my first Honda experiment. I was told by numorous people from lots of different boards that I couldnt convert my DB1 from auto to stick. I did it in under a week with no help from anyone....for under 500 bucks. The write up still lives on at http://www.g2ic.com. I still get mails from people wanting to do the same thing and that swap was done over 6 years ago.

Well the t-belt went out on the car yesterday, but my old man grandpa back is fuct right now. Mr Dr says Im not allowed to do anything physical for a few more weeks, which really sucks seeing as how I have the majority of the stuff I need to start the swap, like tonight. But Ill definatly keep track of the entire swap. My boss wants me to document the entire build for future jobs.

I don't know of anyone who has done a full 4wd b swap yet but I have most of the components as well. You may be the 1st

Well your quite a ways away from the vendor I used, but you might give them a call. Its U-Fix-It Honda in Woodinville Washington. Thier number is: 800-654-0467. Talk to Brian and tell him Shea from Idaho Speed refered you there. He hooked me up good, but I work at a speed shop, so I get a little better deal than Joe Average walkin in off the street. You can also try www.car-parts.com. I found one on there that was actually local for a decent price.

there is a 5 speed awd tranny on ebay. I am also doing the Ls18 b20 awd tranny in one of my twins. pics soon. But I have went to Honda and read through the service manual of the 88-91 rt awd and 97-03 cr-v. The only hold up is the diiferential gear ratio. I have a copy on the civic but the crv service manual doesn't. If someone has a crv diff all they have to do is count the teeth. 42 on the ring and 17 on the pinion. thats the civic.

This is the thread I started on updates: http://www.hondacivicwagon.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=275

As of now Im waiting for clutch/flywheel setup. Ive actually aquired a rear mount for the CRV but its going to take fab work to get that mount to work as well. Like I stated, Im old and I have a bad back so until I get some good pain meds, Im down for the count :(
