Feeling Like I Stole My Wagon

Band Wagon
I'm so excited about my 91 wagovan. I had no idea what I was getting when I told the girl on Craigslist, "I don't care what it looks like, I want it". The ad said, $400 obo, engine runs, has a salvage title, heat/ac, and has been sitting for over a year. The Swagon has 224K miles, runs great, and has nearly perfect interior. After an oil change, new starter, timing belt and a cleaning, I packed my family in it for a trip from San Diego to Tucson, AZ. I'm feeling like I stole the wagon from the girl I bought it from. This car is so sweet, and runs perfect. 900 miles round trip on a 224k mile engine was nothing for this car.

Did you get any mpg data on the trip?

means it has been totaled by the insurance company and the owner decided to fix it and keep driving. possibly a theft recovery as well, sometimes that will brand the title and make it salvaged.
I fail to see why they would give the car away so cheap if it was legal to drive on the road.
There are also some states that require the car to go through a full inspection before being able to get back on the road. Most of the time a salvage title drops the value of the car 25-50% just because you know for a fact something potentially very bad happened. Sometimes it's not hard to salvage an older vehicle from very little damage. Crinkle some body panels, and smash the front windshield and you probably would make every wagon on the road today a salvage title. :P
Re: salvage title, many insurance companies such as mine, will not allow full coverage insurance, only liability on a salvaged vehicle. So basically someone w/out insurance can crush my wagon & I'm screwed.
90 DX 5spd no options
under 1000 for a Wagon FTW
But your is in really nice shape as well!!
but i got mine for the cost of parts to fix it, which was less than $200.
it pays to have a brother who would rather get a new car than fix his own
