rear disc conversion on my RT

well the turbo project is coming together nicely but im already looking to the future and the future is my breaks. for start i want to do a rear disc swap but with my car being 4wd am i going to have to make up my own kit? and for the front i'd like to go a lil bigger maybe some gsr calipers and rotors? anyone know of some good DIY big break conversions for civics? thanx guys

Prelude brakes on the front and custom on the rear as its an RT..

Prelude calipers and 282mm rotors redrilled to 4x100 stud pattern.
  • i say just do integra DA front knukles
they are all the same 10.4 inches
    GSR all newer SI's

i like the idea of the DA front knuckles. as for the back i will try to rob some DA rear discs and make them work. what car will i need to get E-brake lines from or will mine work?
  • integra cables i think but i feel given the amount of work it isnt a huge advantage ...

its more like a bling factor there has allready been a guy who did it on this forum and documented each step .. nice write up

i think some DA fronts with nice shit new pads hawk or whateves and some slotted rotors and you will have all super simple bolt on serious brake power
prelude stuff is kinda dicey as far as simple bolt on ...
obviously it offers the advantage but i had a wagon with the DA fronts and its really night and day
rear disc wont make a big difference unless you are gonna road race

like i said its BLING factor i personally love the rear disc
but just think about the work involved and ask where you wana draw the line between work and pay off

from what i understand you can take prelude rotors and acura legend 2 pot calipers and assemble yourself a poor mans NSX kit on any civic cause the legend and the nsx only difference is cast iron calipers versus aluminum

so thats my 2cents hope its helps

good point. u cant fit 13's over DA breaks can ya...
  • maybe steelies sometimes you have to grind them i have a set OF hx wheels and they didnt fit they are 14's but with some grinding on this section of the caliper i think most 14 inch wheels will fit you may wanna do that before you install anything just grind it them paint it nice
i think 13's are pushing it

i tried to put on a set of 13" steelies on my DA in the front and it did NOT fit.... calipers were way to big. so yea :D

first of all, you can't use Integra ebrake cables..they won't fit on the wagon. i did a rear disc brake conversion earlier this year on my wagon and i've posted pics on the board somewhere. there are alot of parts involved if you want to do this right..i don't recommend you do this in any case cuz there is alot of fab work involved.

How badly is the suspension geometry affected by the DA front knucles? Also do the prelude calipers bolt right on with the re-drilled rotors?
