Need help stumble, bogging RT4wd D16Z6

I have a 89 wagon RT4WD 6speed with a D16Z6 swap with Z6 Intake manifold and convert to OBD1 with EBAY pig tail (OBD0 to OBD1) and running a stock P28 ecu. My problem is while in gear going at a constant speed freeway or city driven, once a while it will STUMBLE or bog or feels like it need more gas or air, and when it acts up like that and I feel it and I Flore the gas peddle and for a second or two it gets back to normal. I've check the ecu if theres any code and no code, I swap the throttlebody, swap MAP sensor, check the Fuel Pressure Regulator and even swap ecu. I also did tune up, (cap n rotor, spark plugs n wires) and still acting up. Any advice?

I know theres another tread like this but mine is a little different. thanks

  • My 1st inclinaion when I hear these symptoms is that it's an O2 sensor problem. The ECU ignores the O2 sensor when the throttle is floored. Did you put in a 4 wire O2 sensor? Is it properly wired?

If it turns out no to be the O2 sensor, check the distributor. I had this same problem on my old Z6 hatch, and it turned out to be the ignition coil in the distributor.
  • Double check all of your wiring, anything you had to cut and crimp/solder/whatever back together, after making sure all of thats ok, check your wiring schematics for anything thats been changed with the swap. Good luck bud
  • Very similar to my problem with my z6 swap. Fpr cleared some of it up. I know you said you checked it, but I checked mine and it smelled/ looked fine. Had a spare and just swapped it in. Really made a difference.

I know the distributor is still good but ill find another 1 and swap it and see how it goes.

  • Also might be related... did you properly bleed your cooling system of air? air bubbles trapped in the iacv can cause bogging.

yes i did, the car doesnt over heat or anything. It mostly happens at warm temp.

I swap in another FPR and it hasnt be acting up but im thinking about replacing the o2 sensor.
  • swapped FPR and replaced fuel filter and swapped distributor and it fixed it. thanks for all the help and sorry for the late notice.
