Wagon or crx?

I have a wagon front wheel drive but someone hit into the rear end and it got total, I'm deside to buy a other one or crx. I want it save gas which one is you guys think is better

    yup wagons are extremely expensive in the seattle area, I seen one go for 3500.00 with terminal cancer

    How much do you have to spend? Can you travel to Cali for the weekend to pick one up? If you really want a solid wagon, at a good price you have to start thinking outside the box!

    If you're looking to save gas then a CRX is the winner. My '88 CRX HF got 55mpg when new, 48.7mpg with 215k on the odometer (when I bought it), and still gets around 40mpg with 274k and a leaking head gasket and maybe worn rings. It handles great, too!

    A FWD manual Wagon can get into the 40mpg territory, and a real good RT4WD wagon can pull low 30s if your easy on it.

    But... you're limited to only carrying two people and enough gear for two people in / on the CRX. If you put long stuff on the roof, you can't open the rear hatch. I frequently carry a canoe so this is annoying. I have a roof bike rack that I took off because I couldn't open the hatch even after taking the bikes off.
    With a wagon I figure I can fit four people, and the gear for four people. If it's an RT (especially a little lifted) then I'm less worried about some of the roads/trails I drive to get to the canoe launches, mountain bike parks, and climbing crags. I lost the muffler on my CRX to such roads, and it's stock height.

    I just bought a crx dx for $350 ^^ with no seats and missing someother interior but engine still good...But I will keep my eyes open to look for a RT4wd with 6speed

    I think gas mileage would be similar but the crx is probably lighter and is smaller so it maybe get a few more miles. I love the both and want an yellow crx all stock and manual, the wagons are harder to find if you ask me and if you do find one they are usually pretty cheap need some minor repairs or what not, crx are more widely available and everyone tunes the crap out of them and they could just be getting you in a mess if you ask me or people have them price to high. If I want a car to be turned out I want to do it myself so I know how it was done and it was done right cause alot of people half a** stuff cause there impatient or dont have the money ect. Thats just my opinion and Just tryin to help you think about things in a different view point.

    If you're wanting really good gas mileage then go with a HF CRX. Otherwise, gas mileage between the CRX and the wagon aren't much different, and I'd go with the wagon.

    Here are my results. I drive 3000 miles per month in my 88 CRX DX, it never gets less than 39 mpg, sometimes as high as 45. My 91 Hatchback DX (driven the same distance) gets 34-38, highest ever 40 mpg. I would think that would be slightly higher than a similarly powered wagon (DX) because of the weight difference. My 91 RT gets 24-27, highest ever 30 mpg. I believe the lower profile of the CRX is the main factor for it's higher numbers. Of course, the 1600 in the RT4WD, along with the weight, profile and lower gearing, all contribute to the lower numbers.

    I say both my first car was my crx and it's so cheap to fix and gassy and easy to fix up and swap engines in plus it's been so reliable, I recently bought a rt 4wd 91 and I was going to make my crx 4wd but I fell in love with the wagovan and decided to just keep it and fix and keep it so I'm my opinion there both great cars

    I am actually looking to trade my 91 HF crx for a RT4WD.
    my crx needs a little cosmetic work, paint mostly. but runs great, and i have gotten 47 mpg.
    its an HF, with Si interior and emblems. and a swap for a newer engine with a little bit more power. body has 175k, engine about 75-80k.
