(d16a6)engine (swap )advice needed

The D15B2 engine in my auto 91 wagon is leaking oil from the crank and main seals. Yes I know, it isn't pretty! I was planning on converting to 5spd and MPFI, but since my engine is high mileage (295,xxxkm) and needs work anyway, how easy is it to swap in D16A6?

I know the A6 will drop right in but what else is required?

These are the parts I am gathering:
-Si engine harness, injector resistor pack & Si ECU
-A6 longblock
-5spd wagon tranny & linkage
-Si pedal assembly
-Si axles

Can I use my auto gauge cluster? I have an auto JDM cluster in my 5spd EG HB which works fine, so I assume my EF auto cluster should work. Anything else I might be missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

TIA

  • you need to jumo a wire on the auto which is your nuetrel safety switch in order to get it to crank but your on the right track that all seems right you may need the mounts for the manual trans

would u consider doing like an LS motor swap? it prolly wouldnt be a whole lot more than what your doing since doing the swap pretty much changes the same parts as going to a d16a6.

even if u dont decide to do a d to b swap i still recomend u check out rywire.com they will have the harness to convert your car from dpfi to mpfi and i bet they can help u on the wiring for the auto-5speed conversion as well.

I definitely wouldn't mind going from d to b but cost of mounts, axles, linkage etc would far exceed my budget. I'll be happy with an A6, I/H/E, suspension & wheels for this daily driver.

Thanks for recommending rywire. I've checked out their website recently. It's good to see a company provide great service.
