wow!! the whole turbo/exhaust setup is phenomenal... you should start making custom headers so we have more clearance when going really low... just a thought, and if you actually do it, I call dibs on the first one lol
Ok so after a very long weekend the gold wagon is alive, not only alive but a monster too!!! I really took my time making sure everything is bolted down and done correctly. I also removed my transfuse case and did a inspection on the gears and did a quick tooth contact pattern test to make sure this things ready for the Big HP's! I was able to drive the car home on Sunday night, the wife and I have been doing "street tuning" the last few days, not really full throttle over the speed limit or anything but rather a cruise/drivablety and getting the A/F smoothed out for the best fuel economy. We are running a very large set of fuel injectors 1600cc :P. They can be tricking to get a nice smooth idle. So last night it was DYNO TIME!! and we were able to make a nice conservative 363whp & 310 TQ, this is in FWD mode by the way!!. Not bad considering the engine now has a stock Z6 cam and smaller intercooler, also on 92oct not E85. I think if I get a crower stage 2 turbo cam back in we will see at least a 30+whp gain from here, but I still have not road tested the car to see what 360whp is like yet The weather here in Portland in not very good right now and there's a ton of standing water on the roads, so I guess I will need to wait to have some fun!
So here's a few pic's I will check back shortly once I can get a nice road test in!!
Really good ground clearance with the 3" piping
In Oregon the gas must me pump'd by an attendant, yes I know super gay. But thats why I put a sticker like this on every car I tune, this way there's not unnecessary engine blows
wow ... did you do any of the street tuning with it in 4wd..????
if so could you feel the rear kick in and did the rear diff bushing do the trick on the thud sound..??
You can really see that it drops power and TQ off allot up top, again thats all the stock cams fault and or a smaller intercooler. In short its running out of air flow, I tryed to add timng up top but did no good. Its should still be very fast though. If I do keep the stock cam Im going to at least add a cam gear and retard it to see if I can get that power and TQ to ride out further..
the manifold is working very well!! Its turning all kinds of cool colors too
dang wryann, been doin work haha. So for that paint, will that cause any air restrictions to the intercooler?
Man I need to get my wagon going so bad haha.
503, if you haven't dropped by to see the headers, you should lol. They're hella clean and done very well lol.
Wryann, I was gonna ask how much that exhaust cost you to make?
And any clips of it running or anything yet? I wanna know how that exhaust and turbo sound xD

Yes at one point I did a hard first to second gear shift, no clunk was heard. I hoping this weekend to have some fun!!! I may be going up to MT. Hood for some snow boarding, should be interesting!!

I really cant say for 100% it will or not... But I highly doubt it. I bet that paint is only .001 thick if that and I dont think it could "trap" the heat in.

with all materials its under $400. I used all mandrel bent selections and them tig welded all the pieces together, all the piping is stainless!! Insteid of using resonators, I used glass packs! I know it seem weird but they work very well the exhaust note is unbelievable.
I had no one around when I was tuning so I was unable to get any video on the dyno but I will get something together shortly!!

would you be willing to make a custom exhaust again? like if I were to pay for the supplies then have you guys weld it for me?
Cause Im thinking about getting custom exhaust when I have you guys put the turbo on and tune it.

hah you read my mind...so far all the exhaust i have seen for the wagon has been crappy. or not my style, im not sure which it is...i really like the look of the one you fabbed up.
side note...your wagon needs a proper photoshoot now that its up and running...idk if you know anybody handy behind the lens, if not shoot me a pm and we can make it happen!
wow i think im sold on getting a gt30r especially since our set-ups are similar (i have the crower stg2 cam already tho') how much to build charge pipes and do a 3" like that for me?
I'm really liking that setup. It's really nice and clean. Had you considered having the intercooler anodized black instead of painting it?
I'm also seriously considering a GT30R, but then it would be feeding through the M62 that's already on the car. Do you think a GT30R would be good for 400whp on a D16Z6? I've yet to dyno the car and have it tuned properly with the blower setup. I'm hoping it's at least 300whp/250ft\lbs, and if I reach those numbers, I'll need to run it that way for a little while to test out the drivetrain before I step up the power.
Let me know if you start busting the transfer case housing. I'm sending my parts off this week to have a guy CNC some stronger billet aluminum housing pieces. I don't want a repeat of my failure this past spring.

I would be willing to do one for anybody that wants one, same go's for anything!! thats what I do for a living LOL. Just come by the shop or email the shop for a estimate.
As far as a turbo manifold go's I dont think I going to be building anther one unless I have the car, turbo, and am doing the WHOLE install. I dont think it make senses to build a custom fit turbo manifold without the car or turbo. There very little clearance as it is!!

Thanks! Anodized black would be sweet, Ive never had anything done before but from what I heard this not that much$$
The GT30 is perfect for 400whp on a D16z6, The GT30 thats currently on this engine has made 530whp in the past with a different cam, turbo manifold, and intercooler. I would be wondering the current number too on your SC D16?? I have tuned a few Supercharged SOHC's never really seen good numbers but tons of fun to drive!
If I see simulator failures of the transfer case housing I will be looking into the same thing. No sense in by more stock units to blow up too. At this point my setup is working very well, I have been driving the crap out of it and its holding!!!
Then we will get it done! If you have any desired locations think them up! Hopefully we continue to get clear weather this winter lol. I'll poke at the girlfriend and get some locations set up.

Here's the brand and product code on the back, I use this type because it seems to "stick" better

this is one of the top wagons (imo) now.
woty!
I think that as long as your box stays healthy, you and Jaker might be proving the "Dont go over 250" crowd wrong.
Thanks!!
Well I got on it very hard today I did a full 2nd gear and 3rd gear pull, No wheel spin all traction!!!
This wagon is UNBELIEVABLY FAST!!!
I cant wait to get a video up for to guys!!

I know I'm working on it!!
I´m working now on a 4wd wagin too, But just with the greddy turbo kit .
