Need some immediate advice! Please Help

Ok so today it was raining pretty hard, and i hit a pretty deep puddle, nothing happen though, everything was fine, no bog down or anything. After I parked it, and it cooled down, I started it back up to go to the store. When I started it, it made a loud ticking noise, I know Honda's are known to tick when cold, but this tick is way more pronounced. I took the valve cover off, and the top of the valve cover was full of water and oil. I changed the oil and filter and cleaned all the water sludge out, but the ticking remains. So I thought I had bent a rod, but cancelled that out, from going one by one and taking off the spark plug wires, which would relieve the pressure from that cylinder producing the knock. Now I am convinced I bent a valve, but am not sure. If anyone knows what this could be, I would appreciate your advice, I dont want to tear down the engine if its something more simple than a valve. Thanks!!!

Do a compression test, should tell you if its a valve or not

Have you changed the oil yet? if its in the top, it's probably in the bottom too. just future preventative measures.

Your best bet at this point is a comp. test like NZ said. If your car didn't bog or anything though, imo I doubt you bent a valve.

I did a comp test, reading 120, 110, 130, 115. All is good, sounds like its coming from the number 4 cylinder, but the compression was fine, i really dont know at this point what to do....... I changed the oil again today, and still nothing.....

Thats quite a spread, normally you would expect them to be within 5psi of each other, outside of 10psi difference and something isnt quite right
  • Ok so I found out what it was!! Its a bent rod, which in return the ticking noise was the rod knocking on the block. So now its time to drop in the h22!!! Haha poor car-=[[
