Steelies AND alloys ??

Sorry if this one has been answered before but i'm curious about a local phenomenon ( maybe not just local)
I've seen several 88-91 Hondas rolling around with black painted steelies up front and aftermarket alloys on the back......So is this some kinda style thing i missed the class on? Or is it simply the latest in GANGSTA gear?

    Burnout rims. Cheaper than doing burnouts on your good tyres.

    OR they did smaok off there nice tires that match the rear and cant afford to put new tires on them so they run there old steelies

    camber wear is consistantly eating their front 2 tires and they can't figure out why.

    anyway, you can chalk it up in the 'ghetto' column.

    this one in the back though. hey it beats having a fricking doughnut until my new tires come in (they are on back order)

    NO......I think the first response is the correct one. It didn't occur to me that there is this culture of build a car up just to wreck it by dragging.
    It isn't a matter of one tire ( like a spare) it's always 2 alloys on the back and the steelies up front......so yeah, it's gotta be for smokin' the front rubber.

    that fo sho. i swapped it out today for a different one, so much smoother now. this one was thumping up and down :lol:

    my new fricking tires are on back order which is starting to piss me off, as i ordered them like 3 weeks ago...the 22nd of september. :? wutever.

    that is a steelie of my friends civic, he got 17 5Zigen rims for $250 in mint condition WITH tires :shock: :shock: :shock: lucky bastard... so he let me use this. haha. end of story.
