FIT has Paddle Shifters; anyone thinkin' what I'm thinkin?

Ok, so the Honda Fit is available with paddle shifters. Spot (my 89 wagon) now has 255k, so, yaknow, eventually we're gonna need to do something under the hood. I'm just thinking, how fun would it be to have paddle shifters!
Just curious if anyone else has had the idea of swappin' the Fit's entire drivetrain into one of our wagons? It's only a matter of time before they start showing up in the junk yards after gettin' creamed in a 10-car pileup during a snowstorm, and the yards will pull the drivetrain before they crush the remains.
This is not an area I'm real familiar with...so if it's a blatantly stoopid question, I'll go ahead and apologize up front. I'm just sayin...a wagon with paddle shifters would be kinda trick, right? Any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with it, but I'd assume the Fit's paddle shifters are electronic switches which feed info to a tranny computer which electronically controls the shifting. ...aaaaaand that's where I guess it'd turn into One Huge Mess...heh...
They arnt there for performance or anything like that, if you bang it up and down through the gears like a racecar, it wont last long.
However if you are after an Automatic car that every now and again you can chuck into "manual" and have a little fun, then its probably ideal

That AT tranny would be a lot easier to source.
