A Spring questions.

Alright, I'm getting ready to drop the Wagon and I have some questions.

What kinda drop are you guys running? (1", 2," 3", etc.)

What are good shocks and springs?
(I'm new to car suspension so I'm not sure about all these springs floating around)

I found a set of Sprint Extreme Lowering springs on Ebay, and they drop the car 3.25" in the front and 3.0" in the back. Is this too much for a Wagon with 16" rims and 205 tires?

Are Sprint springs any good?

Has anyone had to have their alignment re-done after a drop?

Should I get aftermarket shocks, or are the stock ones ok? (besides the rear, I know that part)

I think that is about it. Thanks

on the skunk2 coilovers, i've got about a 1.5"-1.75" drop all around. im not really sure. i had a measurement a while back, but i lowered the coilover a bit, so now i've forgotten. it's really you're preference on how low. if you want it slammed, just remember you're gonna have to watch out for every small hole in the road, and speed bumps are a bitch. i liked the small drop because it gives people the...." is that car dropped? man thats kinda nice" feeling. i've gotten a couple of question on it like that. i would recommend finding a cheap set of coilovers on ebay. then you have the ability to adjust ride height to personal liking. if you get those 3" drops....you're gonna hate it after a while and think, "damn, should have gone with the 2" " so the coilovers allow you to mess with it

i would say get new shocks. even with a slight drop, you're probably gonna blow out the stock ones after so many bumps and holes. remember, those things are about 16 years old now.

i havent had alignment done. there wasnt much of a problem with that. but you might want to adjust the camber a bit too. either with the 'washer method' or just getting a kit to adjust it. with any sort of drop, your tire wear will suffer....so if you're not into changing tires every 6 months, look into your camber.
  • Well I'm afraid of the ride on those cheapo springs. I don't want something that is going to ride like balls. Ya know?

eibach springs have a good rep behind them. i think its like a 1.8" drop on one kit...and 2.5" on their other kit....might wanna look into that. sportline and pro-kit....i just forget which number goes with which.
  • Eibachs are really expensive though, I want to try and stay around the $200 range for everything,

Your afraid of cheapo springs yet you won't spend more than $200?

    $200 won't get you a spare tire.
    quit dreamin'.

putting your ride together right costs grip, if you're not willing to shell out for some basic necessities, then forget it.
suspension equipment is the one of the most costly on any car.

true gotta spend money to get what you want. i was lucky to get those skunk2 coilovers for $140 from a friend. and the Tokico Illuminas were about $300 on ebay. it was money well spent i must say. tien's run for about $1,000, more even. like mrwagovan said....suspension is up there on cost for your car
