Sticking clutch cable

Hello, I recently purchased my first civic wagon. Its 91 RT4wd. Everything runs great with no issues except one thing, the clutch sticks. I'm not too savy with clutch cable design so I'm hoping you guys can help out.

Here's the scenario, the clutch slightly sticks when the clutch pedal is all the way down and it's not possible to downshift. If I'm going 30mph I'm not even able to shift to second gear unless I rev match. This is super annoying and would like it fixed. I tried adjusting the cable and the fork but that didn't seem to help at all.

I look forward to enjoying this forum.
Thank you

  • Sound more like your clutch is worn. Do you know how many miles are on it? You can check if its sticking by having someone watch the end of the cable in the engine bay (on the pass side on the trans) while you push the pedal in and out.
  • I tried looking at the end of the cable on the trans, but it didnt look like it was sticking from there. The vehicle has 125k on it but not sure if it's the original clutch or not.
  • It could also be a broken pedal assembly.

    i'd bet on it
  • Shooty, I never thought of that. I've got a new cable on the way but if that doesn't help I'll try to find a new pedal. Thanks guys.
