Help Me!(code 20 ELD prob on mod eng)

Alrighty, It's been alwhile since I've been on but just got done moving across states. From SoCal to Idaho. Anyways, my wagon made it up here no problem but now I'm getting frustrated trying to fix it. I'm throwing Code 20, ELD Code. From what I've read the ELD can be fixed by replacing the underhood fuse box, I tried that and it's still throwing that code. I also tried changing the ECU but nothing. This problem has been bugging me worse than any other problem any/all my other cars have given me. I have a 89 Wagon with the D15b converted to Multi-Point fuel injection. Running a PM6 ECU basic bolt-ons ZC pistons, A6 Cam and a Y8 Cam Gear. Can someone PLEASE HELP ME!? Any suggestions on what the problem can be? Anything will be helpful. Thanks

Have you triple checked all of your grounds?

I checked most of my grounds and even made some new ones since the problem. It was running fine when it was just the battery to frame ground but I ran another from the frame to the tranny and another from the battery to frame. It's still doing it but another problem arised. I read the ECU code as 20 short blinks and assumed that was Code 20 but found out that 20 is suppose to be 2 long blinks. Short blinks are suppose to go no higher than 9 and mine is doing 20 in a row. Any suggestions?

My understanding of the OBD0 codes was that it does go to 20 blinks and that the long/short thing was OBD1 and above.

That's what I thought too but I was told something different by other people. Plus Code 20 is ELD and is the underhood fuse box but I replaced that and it still throws 20. Now I'm confused cuz people tell me that ELD didn't come out til OBD1 and...............I don't know. I need help cuz I want my car running.
  • ELD doesnt neccesarily mean its the fuse block, ELD is Electronic Load Detection or detector whatever, and it is in OBD0 cars, the point is, there is something causing your wiring to have low voltage somewhere, 95% of the time its a ground, make sure you check all the grounds inside the car as well as the ones in the engine bay. hope this helps

^^ Thank you! I checked the grounds under the hood and didn't have the frame to tranny ground wire. So I wired up a new one and another battery to frame ground. Still need timing to be done to test it but seriously thank you.
  • Not a problem, GL lol
