Tune-up! Most definately the first thing I do to any car I buy from a private owner. Even if they say they just did one.

First thing I did was clean it inside and out. Then I adjusted the valves. Checked dizzy cap/wires plugs/rotor/air filter/ oil change/ ect... Checked out all the cv joints and ball joints. Checked for wheel play (wheel bearings). Just the basics. I just ordered 180 dollars worth of tune up parts from rockauto. I have to KNOW what's in my car to trust it lol.

First thing I did was to drive it 100 miles down the mountain with a "missing" 5th gear and a large swimming pool in the rear tire-well sloshing all the way.

So, I guess I would check for water in the rear-well, EI Mr. Leaky McLeaky hatch seal

drove it 300 miles home then did an oil change on the engine and transmission. within a couple of weeks I did a tune up and a timing belt service. not to mention purchased other misc. parts that have yet to be put on the car.
