  • Nope. I know Jamie Houseman could do it, but I know for a fact that a ring and pinion is about $5,000, so a complete gearset would be substantially more. He's a one off kind of guy though, so his fees will be more than something that would end up mass-produced, even if it's relatively small quantities.

I know I want a taller 1st gear and a shorter 2nd gear. I don't really care about the other gears, as autocross is all about 1st and 2nd.

I'm looking for a taller 5th gear ... more of a highway cruising about 75-80mph gear...
and my reverse doesn't want to engage 2 out of 3 times ....
  • If you're planning on opening up your transmission any time soon, I've got a bunch of internals that you could use to swap some parts and try and solve your reverse issues.

    thanx Jaker..
i am thinking of opening up the tranny once i pull it ( as soon as the motor is complete .. im debating between which D Block to use now.. head is gonna be a single cam vtec)
  • yeah im asking around to see what some straight cut gears are going to be so i can change the sl and make it a true 6spd.
  • this is a longshot but has anyone ever compared subi gears and parts with ours??? just wonderin since they seem to be awd masters lol
  • subaru uses a 1.75mm thread pitch and honda uses 1.5mm. nothing would bolt together.

PAR Engineering makes custom gears for rally cars mainly. They can make to order at a price. I would expect it to cost quite a few thousand dollars.

Thanks. Another alternative. I'll look into that one too.
  • hey pat.. transfering over from d-series.org i see.

so who is going to take the first dive and get a price on a set of gears? starting in january i will have a new job so i possibly would be the first to pick up a set if i toast my oem trans.
  • i sent par engineering an email asking about if they can make it and/or what sorta prices it would be, probably 3-4k+ after looking at their other honda gearsets
