RT4WD Shifter rebuild info.

So on Saturday my package arrived with $55.00 worth of bushings, washers, and o-rings for my shifter rebuild. I basically orderd:
8
14x2
17
18
6
10x2
27x4
9x2
21
20
5x2
I re-greased pretty much everything and ended up doubling up some old/new washers in places I felt I could fit another one in place (#14 for example). The main problem is that #17 is out of stock, and on back order everywhere. You can not get this piece. The reason this is important is that it is really what holds the shifter snug in between the arms on piece #11. I have yet to find anything to take its place, and I am in the process of trying to have one made.
All that said the $68 I spent after shipping and tax was worthless. Rather than buying Honda parts just take off your washers and o-rings, go to the hardware store and find replacements. Everything I replaced was either still good, or could have been replaced by a $0.15 washer rather than a 2.95 one from Honda. Also, none of it will matter if your #17 is worn. I am currently using a piece of rubber plumbing tube that is the same size as the ball coming off of the lever, but it is slowly wearing and is not an exact fit. Re-greasing and doubling up did seem to snug it up a little bit, but it is still loose compared to the standard Honda shifter/linkage with a new bushing.

I can slip thru all forward gears including SL ... but reverse is a hit or miss ..... and i hate to hear the slight bit of a grind ......
any assistance will help me greatly on my rush to get ready for Wagopalooza2010....!!
That said, there is an adjustment which can be done by a 10mm wrench that might loosen or tighten your cable as needed. Its accessible just in front of the shifter housing under the lower center console.
thought about using delrin? isn't that stuff almost indestructible?
ive contacted a few honda dealers and they say they can only get #8.
I even need the sleeve that goes in the piece that "looks" like a heim joint thats not even listed on this illustration.
any updates on #17 being made?
