Battery question? (tie down, new cable, cranking power?)

I have a 1988 RTAWD D16A6, I don't think I need a massive battery like the previous owner put in there. I was wondering what my cold cranking amperage minimum was. And if I could go and get a small oddesy battery for it. Anyone done this before? Also, where can I go to look for a battery tie down? And finally I wanted to relocate my battery to the rear of the car(looking to clean up my engine bay considerably). What gauge of wire do I need, and where could I buy this? Thanks :)

I had one of those half sized batteries in my turbo Nissan (1.8) and it cranked it just fine cold or hot out. It was so small I didn't relocate it either as it was barely noticeable underneath the hood.

That looks like a good product. But that product description was written by a 16 year old stunna. Wordy and unprofessional.

^True. Also where would I go to find battery cable?

I could probably go to a cartoys or audio place and get some 8 gauge wire or something. But I know theres gotta be something more cheap out there!

Try summitracing for the 8 gauge wire. Will the small odyssey batter hold up in WA? Why not just go dry cell with an optima redtop from costco or an online etailer?
  • Why not just use the standard size battery? Are you looking for weight reduction?

Eventually yes. So the sooner I start the better. I just want to know what my minimal cranking amps are so I dont buy a massive battery thats un needed. And I dont know the differences between all the optima battery tops. I just figured an oddesy battery is strong enough and its small too. I'd like to re locate it to the trunk too.
