do you have DPFI or MPFI.
i did this swap, but already had MPFI.

its very simple, you swap over almost everything from your old motor to the D16Y7 (mounts, distributor, crankshaft pulley, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, etc.)

you will need to extend the two wires from the coolant temp sensor on the back of your stock engine block about 12 inches to work with the D16Y7 sensor which is on the thermostat housing.

also you will to cut the lower part of the Y7 timing belt cover to clear the stock engine mount and pulley.

follow this link for more info:

Did u reuse your trans or did you use the hydro trans? Thanks for the link.Is there clearance issues? Is that y you have to swap exhaust and intake manifold.

This is about the same thing as swapping a d16a6 into the car, use your old cable trans, old exhaust manifold, and make sure you swap the actual bracket that bolt under the timing cover.
Also be aware the sharks (Mods), They generally aim to get us to search in a little more.
Really easy upgrade from the DPFI D15b2 though!

thanks for the reply.i was asking cause i have a complete d16y7 motor and manual trans but my car is auto so i didnt know what else i would need to complete the swap.thanks for your help.
  • Wouldn't you need a different throttle cable?

Ah. I see you swapped the intake manifold. I want to do a D16Y5 heaed someday but I definitely want to use the Y5 manifold.

Would D16A6 to D16Y8 work? or would vtec wiring be a whole other issue? Im liking this thread though!

I got a y5 head sitting out back, think it needs to be rebuilt though.

I have a D16Y8 in my wagon. You just need to convert to DPFI from MPFI if you haven't already.
