Need help finding a clutch kit

Hey everybody. I have searched google and some other places but am having conflicting numbers with the different clutch kits. I just bought my DOHC ZC for 250 bucks and am starting to buy the parts I need before I do the swap. So does anybody know what clutch kit will work in my 1989 RT4wd wagon? Hopefully something that will hold some more power. Thanks for any help guys, I know you will come through!!!!!!!

Also will the power steering and alternator bolt up to the ZC from my D16? These things weren't included with the motor.

Use your original alternator but use the DOHC ZC power steering pump, its completely different.
Clutch should match your gearbox, not your engine..
  • Yeah I have been trying to find a clutch for the d16 that is in the car right now because that would be made for the correct gearbox. I am just having problems finding the correct one to match my 1989 4wd. I am getting four or five different numbers on the same sites and just not sure exactly which one I need for the 89. I know that I need to keep the clutch assembly system from the wagon and not buy a clutch kit for the ZC. Just need help locating the correct one.

    Thanks pacifier.

This page should give you some ideas re: part numbers... but this is for the USDM Wagons... :?

Maybe try contacting ACT, they make clutch kits for the RT4WD.. http://www.jazzproparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACT%20HW3-HDR4

From what i can tell by looking at the part numbers the only difference is the throwout bearing but you'd need to call and talk to someone to confirm.
If that is the case you'll be able to mix and match to your hearts content.
Also to find out which one you need for your car call honda in germany and quote your chassis code and they will tell you what you need.
  • Yeah I have already been there but the clutch kits aren't what i would like to throw in my car. yes they are stock but they cost more then if I would get a decent aftermarket one from the states. That is why I am asking. if I can't get anything then of course I have no choice but to get one from the Germans here. just want something a little nicer and a little stronger that is all. Thanks for the info.

:D Don't dispair. :| What's nice about the 4wd is there are quite a few CRX Si parts in it.Don't know why there are soo many parts numbers out there. Basically order all the clutch kit parts for a 1989 CRX Si  EXCEPTthe T.O. bearing(order a '89 4WD one).

the link to that ACT clutch above lists only the year of 89? is there something special with that year or will any 88-91 AWD tranny except that clutch kit?

ACT make triple and sextuple puk clutches for the wagon. Look again.

Honda made minor changes. There's a kit for'88,2 kits for'89 & 1 for '90-'91.If you buy seperate parts a lot of the parts are interchangable.
  • a little advice... i would not use a act clutch in your wago. the lack of springs on the act disk causes alot of drivetrain damage.. hard on axles and viscous couplers. also the act pressure plate is to stiff and causes lots of extra wear to the trust bearings in the motor.. strongly suggest a comp. clutch they make awsome street/strip kits with hardend springs in traditional full disk and puck style..

i just bought an act clutch i got the street performance disc and it does come with springs in it. i know the risks of killing my drivetrain im sure ill blow out a tranny or something along the line. its just the price u pay when u add power to a car that wasnt ment to be a sports car.
  • yeah the street disk does have spring... someone mentioned the act puck style.. the street dick is way better.. but i would still use a factory pressure plate over the act the amount of pressure applied on the crank each time you shift can be leathal.. reliablitly doesn't have to be sacrificed to make a car fast.. i have built numerous 10 second street cars.. you just gotta learn from guys like me who test parts the only way possible.. thrash the crap out of them and take notes..
