HELP! -86 Torsion Bar

Does anyone know if a 91 torsion bar will fit in an 86 wagon?
I've been stranded with my main ride on blocks for a week now and am no closer to finding a replacement.
Parts are scarce here in Colorado.

Well, after some research I've managed to answer my own question.
It appears as though 85 - 87 torsion bars are interchangeable for my 4WD.
After 87 they abandoned the torsion bars up front. D'oh!
At least now my search for a replacement has become more defined - but no less frustrating.

    Still looking.........
    Wow, what a disaster.
I think if I actually find a salvage yard that has it I'm going to go ahead and buy the other side as well
to avoid having this headache if the left side craps out sometime.
    Argggh!

Hey wats up. I also have an 86'. Would you happen to know how to lower an 86'. I'm assuming the torsion bar can just be cranked down but I am not really sure. Any advise...

    Update.
Today I'm striking out all over this great nation of ours.
It appears that torsion bars are an endangered species.
    The hunt continues............

I have a set of pristine CRX torsion bars. They are 20mm though, and the 4wd wagons use 21mm bars but the lengths are only .25/inch difference. CRX torsion bars will work for the 4wd wagon, you are just losing 1mm on the diameter so your front end may be softer over the bumps. I can post pics later if you would like. No rust whatsoever on the t-bars.

Also, redpepperracing.com will supply you with a ton of good info on the 1984-87 civic/crx/wagon.
  • I put 27mm upgrade motoring torsion bars on my 86 hatch. they have 24mm, 27mm, and I think 29mm also. crx and civic hatch/sedan bars are the same length. integra bars are longer, and require torque tubes. but upgrade has those lengths also.

    Jackpot!
I finally located my torsion bar in an Oregon salvage yard.
The guy said it was a bitch to get it out of the 85 it was in but now it's on its way here via UPS.
