first off, welcome to the site :D

personally, i like the second one better. being fart-cans, those are gonna be loud no matter what. if that's what you're looking for, then go right ahead. if you dont want much sound, but still a performance gain, go with Dynomax or Magnaflow. those give a nice low sound while still giving a noticeable bump in power.

    good luck
  • I have the Magnaflow muffler on my Wagon. It is not extremely loud, just loud enough that you know it is there on the inside, and about as loud as a Semi on the outside. With those fart cannons you will probably sound like a stupid ricer, and be loud as if you had no muffler at all.

At idle, I can barely hear the Magnaflow, as well as at cruising speeds.

I would recommend replacing the mufflewr with a nice oval (stock style)
that has a less restrictive design

I have the ebay coffee-can lookin fart-sounding special and its getting too raspy for my taste.

Dynomax Turbo muffler are the best.

i was thinking of OEM muffler, but here, in France, prices are too high !
and i can't find any autoparts website which can make international shipping.
let me know if you have some links...

i'm looking for some exhaust on ebay too, i'm waiting for answer from dealers.
  • The Ebay fart cannons will be loud and soud like shit. I'm not lying, they will.

I could get a sound clip of my car with the Magnaflow for you.

    do it.
  • i don't think my exhaust would pass 84/424/EEC. so don't get anything like mine.

Try ordering though a UK honda dealer or UK speed shops.

after having various sizes/shapes/sounds of mufflers i can say this...

DO NOT GET ANYTHING OTHER THAN A MID LEVEL OEM STYLE REPLACEMENT. and then go get yourself a nice tip that fills out the moulding in the bumper nicely.

You WILL get anoyed with the sound of any 'performance' labeld exhaust
    system. you... and everyone else.

I just took off my magnaflow yesterday, replaced it with an oem style. MUCH happier.

    my 2 cents.
  • Interesting, what size and series did you have?

My Maggy isn't even that noticable inside, and it isn't extremely loud outside. Heck, most the stock Cavaliers I've drove/rode in have louder engine noise than my exhaust makes.

    Wierd.

I'll get a sound clip tomorrow.

Bonjour & bienvenue sur le site !

Hi and welcome to the site !

Thx for the link to the Québec Civic site. I'll have a look there. It will be good to discuss mechanics in French now that I've mastered (almost) the lingo in English.

Salut et au plaisir de recevoir de tes nouvelles concernant ta voiture (ton char)
