Afidarkside's wagon

Hellllllo wagoneeers.
my name is chase, I've been lurkin' this forum for awhile now, did'nt want to join till I at least had a wagon. I picked up my wagon February this year, it needed some work. Now that I've done the necessary work now I want to show it off! Hope you enjoy it, constructive criticism is helpful.

Before I bought the wagon, it was blue, the previous owner painted it black. I want to eventually paint it back to this color. The engine bay is still blue and it drives me nuts.

So he painted it black and some months later I bought it w/ 120k original miles. February 2010

Cleaned it up and a small photoshoot at the mini ramp in February ( gotta love skating in 20 and below weather in wisconsin haha)

I wanted to paint the wheels. so i proceeded to do this, but one of the lug nuts was seized on the stud, drilled it out and replaced the studs (dont have any pictures of them).. then a week later painted the wheels blue. And painted the valve cover and cleaned up the bay.

So finally, I got my stock suspension (courtesy of doitdub aka justin). I got rid of the slammed suspension because i am using this car for work, and it's hard to load up the back with tools and stuff when its slammed haha. Installed, but then I found that my ball joints were bad, so i decided to go ahead and do my axles and ball joints. So after getting the wrong axles, i finally got the right ones and put them in. This is how the car currently sits.

The prelude on the left is my ongoing project & first car.

i think the ur black wagon looks great... u should try spray the engine bay black also to match if u feel the blue is driving u crazy... i've done black engine bay on other colors, and it's pretty simple... i just used black primer...

I think it loos really good black! You dont see many black wagons around. But it would bug me if the bay was different too. You could always paint the bay. But thats a lot of work. Still, looks awesome though!

blue engine bay, blue wheels.. they go together =D i like it black, looks slick!
  • I really do love it black, but its not just the engine bay, its the door sills and around the hatch too.. But i've got this thing for blue wagons with black bumpers, we'll see whats in store for the future. For now its staying black :-)..

Thank you for your kind words, i appreciate it
  • love it, i'll be joining the dark side soon enough, love checking out the pics as always.

I will say that I'm not a fan of the black wagon. I don't think that you get the feel for the lines when it's black, and the lines of this body style are so much better than a hatch or sedan.

  • thanks, they are quite comfy, not sure if its the stock material but it sure fooled me!

  • If you need any help wrenching on stuff let me know!
  • sounds good thanks! im usually doing it by myself so its nice to have someone helping
  • Alright so i've got some new stuff for my wagon. Ive been really busy this summer and havent been able to work on my car. But i finally got some time to do the projects i have planned.

New brakes, brembo blanks with no name ceramics. Got the pair on ebay for 50$!!

And my prelude, it sat all summer unfortunately, and the paint got a little oxidized. So this is it after 3 claybar's and 2 coats of wax. Hood needs a new clearcoat but this is a start.

    Ac and powersteering still work!
Removed the cruise control and re routed some of the wiring. full tuck coming next summer!
  • Update kinda,

I put some "hella" fog lights and bolted them to the bumper, i know, not the best way to do it but the bumper has already had plenty of holes drilled in it. Whats the hurt in 2 more? The ignition switch also went bad on me so I picked up one of those, actually fixed my voodoo blower motor problems i was having.

i also got an ebay intake on the way.

And of course the midwest got hit with a hell of a blizzard on feb 2nd. Here's what I come out to in the morning.

Very nice wagovan. Love the blue rims.
  • thanks!

I decided to take a look at my radio harness as sometimes it does not work, well. This is what it looked like before.
    826.jpg

And cleaned up and shrink wrapped.
    827.jpg

I dont have pics of this but I also fixed my fan switch. It would only blow on speeds 1 and 2 when it was cold, once it warmed up then 3 would work but still no 4. So I took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts, and presto all 4 speeds work again.

  • haha i wish, it was a trooper though. dug out an entrance to the driver door. then moved about a foot of snow in front of it and drove it out, only took 5 minutes :-) Maybe if my wagovan were 4wd id been able to get out without question

Im sorry! if i wasted your time, i dont have a build thread for it on PP or any forum for that matter. Ive been holding off till this summer because the car is going into surgery, all motor build, and tuck etc. That is if i get a house with a garage by then. Lemme see a pic of your lude!
  • Wagons look SICK black! Love the headliner too.
MMM gotta love inspiration to paint my wagon black! (with a few changes of course)
  • heres my long time project. had it for like 5 years

  • Damn that lude is clean for being in north dakota! I brought mine from california, ive owned her since feb. 2004. I have a feeling i will never part with it. Or the wagon for that matter, its my daily and gets me from a - b.

  • looks clean
  • Update,

Got my ebay intake, not really sure how i feel about it right now. It was chrome, 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of semi gloss black took care of that. I also replaced my exhaust from header back. It sounds so quiet, i really like it.

  • Wow, I havent posted in here in awhile. Now that I actually have something to post about. My brother borrowed this car for awhile and let it overheat many times, due to a stuck thermostat. Now it overheats under load. Not sure why he continued to do it, but I have an opportunity to do what ive wanted to do for awhile now. AUTO-manual!!!!!! I'm not sure yet what engine ill be going with. I guess it just depends on what I can find when it comes time to buy. Either a d16z6, jdm d15b, or b16A. I really want a z6 or d15b though, ive been looking for about a month now and cant find a decent one, i guess this search is going to be difficult. Either way, I plan to keep and retrofit a/c, and power steering. anyway, on to pics.
