Mini me swap plus other crap

so. finally i went ahead and did my mpfi/mini me.
a friend and i converted the car to mpfi
also i took the stock jdm single zc head off. and threw on my fav d16y8 head with manifold and fuel rail.
a6 diz
jdm b16 injectors
accord resistor box
y8 honda oem metal head gasket
new honda oem timing belt (y8 because its three teeth shorter to make up for the y8/zc head height difference) i set the timing one whole tooth advanced so its technically .5 tooth advanced because of the half tooth retard that comes with the y8 head. runs amazing.
ac belt removal lol.

started first try no problem. the power difference was major. im getting a tps and iat sensor code. idk why the tps but the iat of course cant be mounted on the y8 mani, surely causing a code. other than that it runs great. been driving it for a few weeks now. of course im still obd0 so no vtec:( but i just got my jumper harness in the mail today so that will change by tomorrow. also some dc headers were used.
compression is 175 all the way across
going to use a p28 ecu
planning to purchase a cam and tune.
also installed a ls integra shifter made quite a diff
the pictures are of the whole y8 with a spun rod in my wagon being transported to the garage
the zc head off and some coolant in the cylinders
the motor in and running with mpfi

on the cel issue, have you tried just switching the plugs and see if that helps?
  • awreckawreck Band Wagon
Yes I've tried three different ones. Idk why it's still doing it. I mean maybe they were all bad. But I still think it just might be the location.
  • Did you swap the two outer wires on the tps sensor? Dpfi works backwards... just a thought
  • awreckawreck Band Wagon
Haha yeah I did. Or my car would be trying to go to redline all the time.
  • You can put a hole in your intake pipe and insert the IAT. You can secure it with two zip ties (use the head of another zip tie like a bolt).
  • awreckawreck Band Wagon
    Ha alright I'll try it.

And for an update I am now obd1 vtec with the p28.
Still running obd0 injectors though. I meant to ask is there any flow difference at all with obd1? Saturated and unsaturated and whatnot.
  • JakerJaker familEE
No. The only OBD0/OBD1 injectors in that vintage of Honda that were any different in flow rate were the Prelude injectors. All Integra, Accord and Civic injectors were 240cc/min. 92-95 Prelude were low impedance and somewhere around 310cc/min, and the 96-up were high impedance and 290 cc/min.
  • awreckawreck Band Wagon
so if i grabbed some obd1 prelude injectors and ran my resistor box with an fpr i would be getting more fuel?
  • JakerJaker familEE
    Yes.

Cool. Btw jaker I tried finding a post you made about your brake set up but I couldn't. I believe you said integra front hubs pressed into crv trailing arms orrrr maybe stock something I can't remember. But since im 2wd what set up would I use? And did you make a bracket for the hub to bolt in?
  • JakerJaker familEE
CRV bearing/bearing holders with some modifications, Integra front hubs pressed into the bearings, and custom made caliper bracket. I'm using ITR rear calipers, and 10.25" rotors with aluminum hats from Wilwood.

Yeah that makes complete sense. And sexy as hell too. Thanks for the info again. I was going to jump on getting the set up ready but my damn block started knocking today during a highway pull. Sooo now it's back to square one with rebuilding this bottom end and possibly building the head. Orrr just going b series. Not sure yet. Well see pay day I suppose.

Also keep in mind that your Wagon rear axles won't fit the Integra hubs. The spline on the Wagon axle is a much smaller diameter. I have custom made axles by Drive Shaft Shop. They use Integra/Civic outer joints (large spline) and 2 of the longer Civic inner joints.

is this car a fwd or rt4wd?
  • Since he started dpfi and mini-me'd a d15, you can assume he's fwd.
  • awreckawreck Band Wagon
Correct. Although I mini me'd a d16 zc. But still I had to do mpfi conv. Which means Im 2wd. Wishing to be 4wd of course. But I can't afford it now having to rebuild this motor. Ughh. Thanks jaker for allthe Info though.
