Is there a 4WD "on" lite?

is there a light or something that lights up when 4wd kicks in, or how do you tell when i kicks in,... i think on the older models there is a light that lights up, but not on the 88+...
can anyone clear this up for me?
also is there anyway we can control 4wd? install a button or lever to make it switch into 4wd on demand??

    On demand: Only super low first gear
    Light: no. none
    How can i tell when its in? When your not stuck.

    Yeah most people dont even feel it engage.

    I have a "low" light that comes on in my dash when the low gear locks. Its an automatic, not manual. To my knowledge the manuals don't have it.

    The switchable transfer case has been discussed before in the engine and trans section, just look round a bit :wink:
